voota (754), Melbourne, Australia Mar 27, 2008 In a small bottle, pours a hazy copper with a small bubbly head and little retention... not much like a typical hefeweizen or the photo to the left of the page but anyway...
Aroma shows loads of phenols, mostly clove, and also quite a lot of malty sweetness. You can tell from here that it’s not going to be a light easy drinker. The first sip confirms the cumbersomeness of this beer, too sweet, too sticky, too phenolic, too bitter... its almost got too much of everything... which should work because it should theoretically remain balanced, but it doesn’t at all. Flavour is sweet and clovey. Finish is so long and cloying that it actually annoys me. Very ordinary.
KimJohansen (2460), Copenhagen V, Denmark Jun 23, 2008 Clear amber with medium white head. Sourish aroma with wheat notes. Sweet and sour flavor with fruity notes. Aroma features phenolic cloves, a touch of cornflower, and a dusty note. On the palate cloves are continued, muted malt, and a short finish all matched with a flabby limp mouthfeel. Rather underwhelming beer that seems to drink way below its strength. renffisch (384), london, Greater London, England Apr 30, 2008 330ml bottle from the greenwich union. dark orange hazy colour, not much head to talk about, little white lace. meaty strong yeast smell with quite a bit of veg oil hops.very bitter in taste. not too great of a mouthfeel and a bit watery. light toffe and banana. not mine. imdownthepub (3963), Banbury, Oxfordshire, Oxfordshire, England Apr 18, 2008 Bottle, 330ml. Clouded orange gold with white head. Spicy banana aroma which follows onto the palate, pretty sweet and cloying and a little too buttery. Some hoppy notes cutting through towards the finish. It’s ok, a reasonable wheat beer.
