75cl bottle from 2001. Yeah, this beer is 11 years and I hope it aged well ! I’m going to pour it into a Westvleterren 12 15cl trappist glass. I kept it especially to celebrate 2012 ! Golden with practical no head. Nose : caramel with strong raisins notes. Dough aromas. Deep alcohol and spices aromas. Some vanilla. It has a very distinctive whysky like aromas. Sip : Almost flat and oily. Sweet start with delicate layers of sour ale like notes. Well fruity and dry. It’s really well balanced and mild. It has a lambic feeling but still a texture and color of a blond ale. It develops a taste similar to a chocolate, hazel nut tart. Well done with amazing abilities to age.

UPDATED: NOV 6, 2011 11 years old bottle. Light orange very clear beer, small head, disappears a bit quick, but with this age... Pretty decent beer, a very slightly sourness getting trough, with a nice liquorish, a bit dusty smell and fruity taste. Good at the aftertaste. The bottle says MechelsE Reuzenbier.

750mL bottle, 2002 vintage, courtesy of argo0. Thanks, Aaron!! Pours a murky, golden-brown color; light tan head with good retention and fine-bubbled lacing. Very pleasant, generous dry aroma: toasty malts, caramel (plenty of oxidation), and honey; pleasant yeast character. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: chewy bready malts, caramel, honey, and complex yeast; very nice, effervescent feel in the mouth; zesty, crisp and dry; nothing overripe; the oxidation adds a layer of complexity; very pleasantly aged beer. Lengthy finish: pepper, toasty malts, bread, and honey; restrained sweetness at the far end.
