Commercial Description:
The giants of Mechelen appear in public once every 25 years during the Ommegang. To honour all these giants and to keep the tradition the Brewery "Het Anker", brewers of the real beers of Mechelen, produced a special strong beer; a "Reuzenbier" ("Giant Beer"). Its gold-yellow colour, its high alcoholic percentage, its full and well-balanced taste make this beer a source of vitality and strength and will please the most requiring beer-expert.

Light, fruity, yeasty spiciness. Pepper, coriander, clove, cumin. Bitter and quite astringent. Nice chance to try this but not exceptional in honesty.

RBSG07. From 75 cL bottle. Pours hazy yellow with a white head. Aroma is malty, slight corn. Flavour is sweet, alcohol presence, corn and slight malty, slight wineous. Finish is malty dry. I don’t like the tobacco flavour though.

Sampled at the RBSG 07 Grand Tasting. Light yellow/brown color with a sweet tobacco nose. Spicy body with strong yeast and an alcohol kick.

RBSG 2007. I know Argo0 brought this and I thank him mightily for it, but also to Boboski, who apparently remembered me mentioning in a thread that I would love to try it, then found me and gave enough from his glass to rate from. Awesome. Hazy yellow color with a thin head. Nice, light aroma of coriander and tobacco. Very spicy flavor with an excess of tobacco and yeasty. Slight coriander finish. I think the tobacco is a house flavor for these guys, and I love it.

Bottle 75cl, vintage 2002, label says "Mechelse Reuzen - Consequente compensatie".
Good beer to celebrate Finnish independence and also my most expensive beer bottle ever.
Hazy orange color, good creamy white head. Fruity and yeasty nose, also some kind of woody notes. Someway similar ot some DDB beers. Bitter, honey sweet with alcoholic kick. Full-bodied malty background, also oaky notes in the flavor. After four years mouthfeel is very round. Beer to sip slowly.

(Bottle 75 cl) Name on label reads "Mechelse Reuzenbier". Pilsener golden, slightly hazy with a huge and stable head, that never really collapses. Extremely potent, solid and full-bodied beer with lots of malt, sweetness and (well hidden) alcohol. Fruity and yeasty nose. Very complex flavours that almost "explode" in your mouth leaving you with all sorts of wonderful impressions. 290602

Bottle at the ’t Brugs Beertje pub in Brugge, Belgium. Fast rising carbonation and transparent appearance with a yellow orange hue. Sweet and alcohol aroma. Malty, alcohol and sweet flavor. Lightly tingly and dry mouthfeel. Well worth a try if you enjoy this style of beer.
