oh6gdx (5901), Vaasa, Finland Aug 19, 2007 Bottled. Deep honeyish golden colour, no head. Aroma of almond, honey, sugar and stinging alcohol. Flavour is almonds, honey, dry wood, alcohol and some slight spices. Aftertaste is almonds and honey. harrisoni (5130), Ashford, Kent, England Dec 5, 2006 Bottle at the Kookfest back in Sept 06. Nutty sweet mead. Almond nougat flavour. Thick in mouth, slightly harsh and uncultured. Not subtle. Rough. duff (5405), Sydney, Australia, Surrey, England Nov 19, 2006 Bottle. Smells like candy. Some marzipan and Nerds in the aroma. very sweet mouthfeel, a little sickly and sweet. Too much candy sweetness for my liking. chris_o (4409), London, Greater London, England Oct 1, 2006 Bottle at Kookfest, September 2006. Thanks to Mungo for the bottle. Shame he didn’t take away the remaining 90% of the bottle when he left. This is marzipan city. Rather like the almond essence I remember my mother using for baking years ago. And married most inharmoniously with the underlying gloopy sweet honey. No redeeming acidity to relieve the unremitting, sickly, syrupy character. Even more unfortunately, the flavour and aftertaste lingers interminably on the palate and in the memory. Very nasty indeed. At least a dash mixed with the pint or so of mixed Fullers Vintage left over from the comparative tasting and used as a marinade for pot roast beef provided an interesting culinary use.
Mungo (2474), Southampton, Hampshire, England Sep 29, 2006 Kookfest 06. Overly sweet with nutty honey flavours and excess alcohol. Not great.
