3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle sampled at Noog Four-0 5/31/08 courtesy of aracauna: Pours a still clear pale golden with pinkish hues and nice legs. Aroma of sweet floral honey and fresh strawberries. Body starts with a hint of honey sweetness quickly drying out toward a semi-tart berry finish with plenty of warmth. Pretty nice strawberry flavor but could hide the alcohol better.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle (2007 edition). No head (still, but does have a light effervescence). Body is faintly hazy peachy-pink. Aroma is lightly yeasty (dough), with notes of rosemary, watermelon rind, light note of alcohol (somewhat fusely), hint of honey. Flavor is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic. Finish is trace sweetness, lightly to moderately acidic. Light body, watery texture, flat carbonation, lightly to moderately astringent. A pretty neat color, but sadly that’s probably my favorite aspect. Somewhat interesting aroma I suppose, though it is dominated by rosemary (not overpowering, mind you, but the honey and fruit are definitely faint in comparison), and the alcohol vapor is a little off-puttingly fusel in character. VERY dry (well beyond "off-dry" to me)...virtually no sugar whatsoever left here, which paired with the very light body makes it unfulfilling and vapid to drink (for me). Good tannic structure, as usual from this meadery, but in this case it unfortunately only adds to the dryness. One of my least faves from Medovina, but if you like really dry wines, this might be of interest.
