Bottled (big thanks to brunnsbe). Dark amber colour, white head. Aroma is malty, hoppy and plummy. Also some caramel. The flavour is quite similar. Very wellbalanced. In my opinion very underrated on RateBeer.

Bottle @ J.C.G US Tasting , Pt 2. Pours amber reddish with a small off white head. Nose is red apples and exotic fruit. Medium bodied. Dry and fruity flavor.

Bottle from The Liquor Collection, Honolulu, HI
Hazy amber color, with small head. There is a clear aroma of butter. Caramel flavor, with light sweetness, and again the butter; the bitterness is rather low.
I’m not put off by the diacetyl, but this beer is seriously problematic.

(12oz bottle) Minimal off-white head atop lightly hazed copper body. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel, bread, some prune. Taste is medium sweet, caramel, some bread, orange, light raisin. Undercarbonated light-medium body, light stickiness.

Poured a reddish brown color with an averaged size tan head. Malty smells and tastes (caramel). Not a bad beer (better than some of the other local beers I’ve had on this Hawaii trip).

UPDATED: JAN 20, 2008 Highly yeasty aroma, with a little malt and red wine. Frothy off-white, smallish head with darn good lacing. Pours opaque brown/amber. Watery, then bitter taste, no other flavors to speak of really. Okay, but nothing to search for when on the mainland. By the way, they have considerablly changed the bottle and 6 pack carton design.

JorisPPattyn (7309) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - OCT 3, 2003
Dark red chestnut; thin, rather dense cream-coloured head, fast gone. Complex nose, starts off with molasses and plums. Then it gets fairly malty, dark bread malts. Ends grapey. Rather bitter taste, brown bread flavour returns. Light-sourish finish, as if rye or such were used. Watery texture, light to medium bodied, at odds with that complex nose. Promessing and disappointing. I wonder about its ABV. Somehow it seems more German-inspired than American, but they got it wrong somewhere.

Dogbrick (6058) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 7, 2010
UPDATED: DEC 10, 2010 Sample at the Mehana Taproom in Hilo. The beer is a clear reddish amber color with a medium thin off-white head that recedes quickly. Spotty lacing. Caramel malt and fruit in the nose. Medium body with flavors of sweet malt, toffee and fruit. The finish is malty with a sweet aftertaste. Average overall.

Bottle. Candied cherry malt aroma. Dark amber color with minimal head. Dried cherry/apricot malt and moderate hops flavor - almost has a Belgian ale flavor. Very nice palate. One of the best amber ales I’ve ever had.
