Aroma is subtlety hoppy. Taste is light crisp and refreshing with a slight, hoppy bite to finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

"not deserving of a WBC bronze, but not bad. more malty than hoppy, so i was left wanting more hops in the taste and aroma, but the carmal malt flavors are quite nice."

Poured from 12 oz. can. Semi -clear amber with a reddish hue and a huge light tan head, for sure over carbonated. Not sure what to make about this one, as it is my third can from the same 6 pack, and they have all been about the same, with this last can being the least offensive so far (perhaps I am getting used to it?) Nose is somewhat malty, a hint of butter. Taste again has that butterscotch hint, so leaning towards the sweeter end. Oily, slick texture with an abrupt finish. In the Islands, so thought I’d give it a try.

Dark amber. Aroma has a fair bit of diacetyl, something I didn’t notice on tap at the brewery. Taste is pretty buttery as well, maybe a bit fruity but really this is a butterfest. On tap the rating would have been significantly higher, as the beer was moderately bitter and balanced - and most importantly clean.

Pours a medium amber red with a small head that quickly fades. Aroma is of caramel and cereal. Hints of smoke and spruce with a slight metallic twinge. Has that slight metallic hint on the front with a caramel and bread-like flavor. Somewhat dry palate that has a medium bitterness on the back. Overall it’s not too hoppy and it’s a decent red ale that i could drink again.

Can - pours bright amber with thick off white head. Nose of malt, caramel, vanilla. Taste is more citrusy then expected, malt, and grass. Finish is somewhat weak. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From can purchased at Mehana Brewing. Fizzy light amber. Aroma is caramel, nuts, and a touch of citrus. Taste is fairly sweet, with caramel, toffee, and peanut brittle. There is a hint of citrus bitterness, but not much hop presence. Sweet, nutty finish.

Nice blend of malt and bitter hop aromas. Cloudy amber red colour with poor head. Odd flavour, mainly caramel malts. Med body and carbonation ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Medium amber body. Caramel, rancid butter, tea. Thin. Not very good.

Bottle. Enjoyed in Volcano Village, very fitting :-) Spicy, citric, light tart aroma. Murky red, offwhite lace. Light caramel, apples and wood in the base, light spicy and aromatic. counterpoint. Yeasty earthy edges in the aftertaste. Relatively light sparkly body. Not on fire, but nice enough.

An average red with a nice toasted caramel malt backbone and a bit of hop bitterness. Nothing much else going on in this bright amber pour. The nose is well rounded and has a moderately toasted caramel and grainy malt. Overall, a good amber.
