2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 NICU (12) - Oregon, USA - MAR 27, 2007Blah...I appreciate the fact that my friend brought this back from Hawaii, but I can’t really think of much to say about it because it is just so boring.
The one interesting thing about the beer is the deep red color, it all goes down hill from there. Biscuity, "fat tire" flavor mixed with something cardboardy, a little metallic bite (I’d assume it’s from rye) and a bit of "generic hops."
I hate to waste beer, but I really can’t bring myself to finish this so I’m going to click "Add Rating" and pour this out. If I find another bottle I’ll try it again in case this was a bad bottle, but at this point I’m not overly impressed...
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 patricks110 (1259) - Alberta, CANADA - FEB 7, 2013
An average red with a nice toasted caramel malt backbone and a bit of hop bitterness. Nothing much else going on in this bright amber pour. The nose is well rounded and has a moderately toasted caramel and grainy malt. Overall, a good amber.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 fiulijn (12360) - Malmö, DENMARK - JAN 23, 2013
Bottle from The Liquor Collection, Honolulu, HI Hazy amber color, with small head. There is a clear aroma of butter. Caramel flavor, with light sweetness, and again the butter; the bitterness is rather low. I’m not put off by the diacetyl, but this beer is seriously problematic.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 ben4321 (3027) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JUL 5, 2012
UPDATED: JUL 21, 2012
Location: Draft at the Yard House - Honolulu, 7/5/12
Aroma: Nose is rather faint, a little caramel, some light bread and fruit notes
Appearance: It pours a dark reddish-amber color with a small head and minimal lace
Flavor: The taste is medium sweet, and fairly heavy malty, with a rather light bitterness
Palate: The body is light-medium, and it is just a touch watery, with an average feel to it
Overall Impression:
I wasn’t particularly excited by this one. This is certainly not something to run out for again. I guess I didn’t expect it to be much better after trying their Pale Ale, but it was still pretty boring...
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 thetmaxx (673) - West Sacramento, California, USA - MAY 26, 2012
Poured from the bottle to red solo cup on a back patio overlooking the ocean in Maui. Aroma is sweet malt, flavor is similar but does have some noticeable hop character. Palate is smooth and clean great for the warm Hawaii afternoons!
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Powertrip (999) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - APR 12, 2012
Single bottle purchased from a small wine store on Kauai Island on 04/09/2012. Colour: For sure red, darker though. Medium head that stays stable and decently thick. Nose: Really fresh bread. Cooked malt and barley - but not roasted. Soggy cereal. Taste: Medium-light sweet, medium-light bitter, light sour. Very light. Soft traces of caramel, malt, bread pudding. Nothing stands out.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 troyc (2014) - Oklahoma, USA - NOV 2, 2011
[Tap] Pours a reddish amber color with a rocky looking off white head. Caramel and light brown sugar in the nose. More caramel in the taste. Hints of metal, floral hops and toasted breads are also there. Prickly carbonation and sweet finish. Not too bad, but not very complex either.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 tennessejed420 (924) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JUL 12, 2011
from a bottle. Reminded me of mad rivers jamaica red since I had that recently but more watered down. Aroma and flavor are malty, with big tones of molasses and caramel, soft notes of rum spices, balanced by hops but without a real hop profile. Medium bodied, pretty smooth and creamy. Overall pretty enjoyable, but nothing too special.
