hopscotch (10600) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAR 22, 2011
Bottle... February in Franconia (2011)… Clear, deep amber lager with a mid-sized, fluffy, off-white head. Good retention. The complex nose is a fusion of honey, biscuit, toffee, date and fig. Full-bodied and creamy with moderate carbonation. Decently balanced for a Marzen. The hardy flavor leans sweet and offers a nice selection of malts. A semblance of balance is provided by minerally, spicy hops. Moderately sweet, nourishing finish. Thanks go out to erlangernick and Koelschtrinker for making this month of Franconia lagers possible!

Bottle: Amber coloured, big firm lasting and lasting head; faint sweet malty nose with a tinge of hoppiness and traces of roasted malts; sweetish malty and bitter flavour; slightly malty and bitter finish. Well quaffable, but nothing special...................

(bottle) Clear, amber colour with a fluffy, off-white foamy head. A bit dusty, moderately sweet, minimal sour and roast-malty aroma with caramel and spicy hops in the background. Light-sweet flavour, medium bodied with a well-carbonated mouthfeel. Moderately roasted malty taste with caramel and milk chocolate; dry-ish, malty slightly bitter finish with a delicate blend of herbal hops and a rural barnyard note. Not that much different to the Vollbier, but a bit stronger and eventually a bit more roasty; very pleasant and quaffable, although I prefer the Vollbier which is better balanced from my point of view.

3fourths (9136) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - NOV 22, 2012
bottle, best by date February 2012.
clear rich brick red body with a soft just-white head. striking calcium / mineral water and toasted Munich malt nose with nut oil, toffee and baked bread fun. touches of maraschino cherry and sweet apple show up as it breathes. medium body with an oily and slick texture, very smooth with rich sweet almond cake / amaretto flavored malt. overall it seems very well put-together, though much drier than what I expect (and like) in festbier malt-bombs.

Quack-Duck (9120) - Down South, GERMANY - DEC 31, 2009
bottle, traded with wastl. Clear chestnut colour with a small beige head. Malty nose. Medium-bodied, flavours of caramel and spicy aromatic hops. Shy hints of bitter chocolate and cocoa powder. Most impressive is the palate, I’ve rarely had a beer with such a pleasant palate. Extremely smooth and velevety yet with signs of liveliness. A delicious beer - a masterpiece, ein Meisterstück.

Bottled - Pigs Ear BF. An amber coloured beer with an off-white puddle of head. The aroma is malty and a bit dry. Wood and sweet malts in the taste. Hints of alcohol and sweet finish. Quite nice
