Bottle. Bready roast, light fruit, bitter notes. Chestnut, off-white layer. Nutty, light choclaty start, fruits and berries, honey sweetness. Full chewy, body weakens a little towards the finish. Flavourfull and moreish. Roasted almonds in the aftertaste.

Bottle in Edinburgh. Powerful, malty beer, you feel they have squeezed all the goodness out of the grain here. This is as home made as the label! Freshly baked bread, a little yeast, a bitterness that’s not very pronounced, but it does its job.

Bottle from the alison arms at home. Aroma is malty, ameber ale almost, bready biscuity, richer malts, grassy hops backing. Taste is also malt based, quite sweet, very drinkable and very appealing indeed.

Quack-Duck (7759) - Down South, GERMANY - DEC 31, 2009
bottle, traded with wastl. Clear chestnut colour with a small beige head. Malty nose. Medium-bodied, flavours of caramel and spicy aromatic hops. Shy hints of bitter chocolate and cocoa powder. Most impressive is the palate, I’ve rarely had a beer with such a pleasant palate. Extremely smooth and velevety yet with signs of liveliness. A delicious beer - a masterpiece, ein Meisterstück.

Benjii (3049) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JAN 1, 2012
In bottle at home. Pours a ruby -chestnut colour with a thin beige head. Aroma of strawberry jam, caramel, barley and biscuity malt. Interesting fruity flavour also, definite strawberry jam with some grassy hops, caramel and alcohol also. This is pretty different. Alcohol is fairly present. Mild carbonation and light CO2 prickle. Not bad.

hobsch (409) - Cologne, GERMANY - DEC 19, 2013
Bottle 0.5l. Pours deep amber with a large steady off white head. Aroma has some roasted notes with a slight sourness. Unspectacular. Taste is medium sweet, low bitterness, caramel, coffee. Overall a perfect balance of malty sweetness and bitterness. Really good.
