Bottle… February in Franconia (2011)This beer rocks!… Clear, brilliant copper lager with a huge, frothy, white that slowly diminishes to a small, creamy, tight cap which remains afloat throughout consumption. The bouquet is toasty, doughy and lightly nutty - so reminiscent of mashing day inside a brewery – boiling wort… ahhh yesss. The hops are subdued, but smell earthy and spicy. Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. The flavor offers sweet, toasty and doughy notes along with flavorful, spicy hops – low bitterness. Finishes lightly sweet and toasty with only a tinge of bitterness. World class dunkel in my book! Thanks go out to erlangernick and Koelschtrinker for making this month of Franconian lagers possible!

seritomi (277) - HUNGARY - JAN 22, 2011

Bottle looks simple, but really good. Beer in the glass also. Dark, really nice head. Starts malty, a bit roasty, hints of caramell and chocolate. Finish is milder, notes are not so intense. Very drinkable and really a great beer!

Bottle. A clear, copper-colored beer topped by a small, off-white head. Malty, caramel nose with some meaty notes and fruityness. The flavor has some caramel, a little hoppy giving fruityness and bitterness. Slightly piney and metallic finish. Medium body. Definitely not my choice of dunkel. 100813

Pint bottle, thanks to Ruth. Pours a dark copper with a white head and plenty of carbonation. Beer continues to release CO2 throughout. Aroma is a caramel malt with a doughy yeast smell. Hop content is relatively low, but this beer goes down smooth and leaves you wanting another sip. Great beer overall.
