From draft at the brewery. Crystal clear copper-amber with a lasting off-white head. Quiet aroma is malty in the way of graham cracker and toasted cereals with quiet floral hoppiness. It’s lightly yeasty and minerallic with subtle off-notes of grain husks and paper. There’s a small bit of toffee and pipe tobacco in the nose as well, it’s the most interesting aspect of the beer, but unfortunately it’s pretty dull. Medium-light bodied, malty, sweet, lightly bitter and acidic. Carbonation and malt texture are both a little rough and edgy, and the body is watery and the finish is quick. No major defects, just bland expression and watery / flabby body.

Bottle, pours brown with a Fast-settling head and a fruity caramel nose. Crisp, malty and bittersweet, if I didn’t know what this was it could easily be a sweetish Southern English brown bitter.

From a bottle, pours a clear deep amber with a tan head. the smell is toasted malt, brown sugar, bread, a little herbal. The taste is as it smells ending a with a little bit of chocolate and dryness. Light+ in body with crisp carbonation. Pretty nice.

This is a no nonsense Vollbier which is very drinkable. Though simple in its flavour spectrum, it does what it presents very well. A distinct flavour and drinkability, what more can one want?
