2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pepper bready aroma with heavy alcohol. Copper colour slight haze. Mod white head. Sweetness dominates. High alcohol flavour, seems oxidised.. Medium body. Mod carb. Overly sweet finish? Sorry, an ordinary Belgian. Not a Tripel.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Slightly hazy golden beer with a thin head and a light aroma of hop and pineapple. The fruit comes through in the flavour with floral hop. The main downside is that it tastes as strong as it is, with the aftertaste in particular being quite potent. It’s tasty though and the there’s a touch of spice in with the fruit that gives it a bit of an exotic edge.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
It’s really doughy, yeasty, funky, something about this beer was just off, strong dark fruit aroma and flavour, brown sugar, but again just off, definitely not sour. If you really like funky beers to challenge your palate then give this a go.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
330ml bottle from some travelling French folk at Newtown Food Festival. Pours hazy orange with thin foamy white head. Sweet aroma of vanilla and marzipan. Taste is similarly sweet with additional slick caramel and light spice. Quite nice by the glass, but perhaps too sweet for another.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from a French supermarket. Pours a murky amber colour with very little in the way of a head. Tastes better than it looks with initial fruity sweetness followed by a fairly spicy bitter finish and alcohol warmth. OK

Bottled 11/08/14. A hazy light brown coloured beer with a good sized white head and lace. A nice Belgian styled beer. Good fruitiness. A depth of flavour. Nicely balanced. Boozy and tasty. Liked.

Full body. Oily texture. Medium carbonation. Sweet warming finish. Another (friendly) dragon. Overall, a good spicy bittersweet ale.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Cloudy amber body and small grey head. Simple malts, doughy, fatty, cookie spices. Unrefined and alcohol. Full texture but that’s because of the boatloads of sugar and unnecessary alcohol. Not nice at all. (33cl bottle from La Houblonière Toulouse)
