3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Menabrea 150° Anniversario Ambrata is a simple Amber Lager. It is one that your macro-drinking friends will enjoy and yet will hold up the BA’s minimum standards as well. I am not saying this beer is exception but it is more than adequate. I first became acquainted with it during the World Cup, (while cheering for Italy) but a friend of mine has been drinking it for years.
Appearance: Pours a clear amber color with a huge white head. Spotted lacing on the glass.
Smell: Malty and sweet in the nose. A bit dextrinous and remote suggestions of a fruity character with very light scent of hops.
Taste: This is a very easy drinking approachable beer that is “cool” as an imported beer. It is in the league with Yuengling Lager in that is thinned out and bit macro-ish but still above average. Ther eis a nice taste of amber caramel malts, a bit of corn then the fruity semi dextrin, artificial sugar / fruity flavor; followed by a bittering hop attribute. The floral hops are especially prevalent in the finish and the best part of the beer is the bitter aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: This is a small beer by American standards but the mouthfeel is not completely limp. It has a solidish malt backbone supported by some nice carbonation.
Drinkability: The feature of the beer is its sessionability. I had 6ers of this at several World Cup parties and it always went over very well with the crowd and the environment. The focus was on the game and drinking and the beer was a tasty side note. If you are looking for a beer to really sit down and critique this may not be the right choice.
Hope this is helpful.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Three 330ml bottles at Kaffebønna - a new italian coffee place in Tromsø - Amber colour. Malty aroma. Caramel flavour. Slightly hints of hops and bitterness. Alright, but most of the flavour is killed by too lively carbonation.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a copper bronze with a thin wispy white head. Dry toasty nutty and buttery aroma. Starts with a sweet toasty caramel maltiness turning more dry and mildly earthy. An ok amber, but could be more balanced and have less diacetyl.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottled. Copperish colour with mediumsized head. Aroma of dark bread, maize and malts. Flavour is sweet malty and maizeish. Palate is ok, not as watery as many other Italians sampled at this occasion. Fancy bottle here again, and actually the content was not too bad.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Amber colour. Aroma with hints of nuts and toffee but also strangely acidic. Flavour is pleasant enough but not at all interesting. The store claims this is "the world’s best beer" - have you ever heard anything this ridiculous?

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottled (BB 02/2007)
Dark honey amber color, good beige head, lace. Ryeish malty aroma with woody notes. Light-bodied, grassy hoppy flavor with hints of sweetness (diacetyl?). Not very stylish Vienna. Boring.

Bottled. Dark golden in colour, white head, lacings. It has an aaoma of corn. The flavour is hoppy and there is some corn present. It has a dry aftertaste. Thanks to Dorqui for this beer!
