This is lovely. A braggot in many senses. Toffee, honey, caramel, bourbon, vinious notes. Very sweet, but very moreish. Missing a touch of complexity, but that might come with some age. Top shelf.

Aroma is bourbon, vinous notes, malts and medium sweetness. The flavor is very sweet honey, mild vinous notes, malts and a bourbon/alcoholic finish.

12 ounce bottle. Thanks Dallas! Pours a clear reddish brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of malt, fruit, caramel, and bourbon. Taste is grapes, plums, honey, chocolate, malt, and bourbon. Unique. Worth a try.

Bottle shared by goryshkewych. Cheers, George! Pours a clear copper color with a small off-white head. Nose is honey, sweet malt, some sweet fruit, raisins, grapes, booze, and some vinous character. Flavor was uber sweet with lots of raisins, almost cranberry character, some fruit, and booze. Interesting blend, but it kind of reminded me of drinking soda from the fountain after I mixed every kind possible.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. Notes of grapes, caramel, sweet breads, vinous, honey. Very interesting. Resembles wine more then beer.

Bottle @ home, picked up at 287 Liquor Fort Collins. Pours a clear, dark brown appearance with a light brown head. Quite spicy, tannic, leather, rich whiskey, oaky, dark grape/plum aroma. Thick honey, oatmeal cookie, chocolate, a bit spicy whiskey, mild dark fruity flavor with a spicy, oatmeal, whiskey aftertaste. Very rich but tasty and drinkable. Really kind of an interesting brew.

Bottle at home. Pour is clear, deep, cola with a crimson tint and a small off-white head that quickly dissipated. Bourbon, dark fruits, hairspray, raisins, tannin, toffee, and caramel in the aroma; reminiscent of a barleywine. Taste is sweet honey upfront, with notes of dark fruits, plums, and red grapes. Smooth through the middle with a lot of barrel characteristics in the finish; whiskey, red wine, sherry, wood, vanilla, figs, and plums. Very sweet and the alcohol is hidden dangerously. Syrupy mouthfeel with soft to medium carbonation. Almost like a barleywine, yet sweet like a mead, maybe too sweet, with nice bourbon notes and tart dark fruits. I can’t tell if it is muddled or works well, in any case, I seem to enjoy it; pretty smooth and tasty for 12%. Not bad, but one glass is more than enough for me.

Was really hesitant to buy this one but glad i did! Opens with a great nose of whiskey and raisins(stephanie’s i think). The flavor is well rounded lots of barrel characteristics here. Malty full flavor with a finish that lingers. Very light on the carbo nation. The blend is perfect, don’t age this drink it now. By the way this beer is in no way a sour at all! Its delicious barrel aged goodness. The merlot aged ale side of this beer brings out a jammy bourbon blackberry flavor I have never experienced.

Try as I have, I just don’t dig sours and this beer was no different. While I understand stylistically how the beer is supposed to taste, I am blinded by my utter distaste for the style. I wanted to like it, I tried to like it, but sours just don’t do it for me.
