Black Eye Ale is a unique blend of two of our popular brands - Black Hawk Stout & Eye of the Hawk Select Ale. Black Eye Ale is big in flavor and smooth in finish. The high percentage of dark & specialty malts in Black Hawk Stout enriches the silky warming character of Eye of the Hawk Select Ale, making Black Hawk Ale - Truly the Ultimate Blend.

Pretty black it tis. Not seeing light through it. Good frothy head of foam with lacing. Roasty with dark chocolate and a strange other bitter smell. Roasted malt with bitter chocolate, hints of fruit when I swish the beer in my mouth. Again, thereís something going on with that bitterness thatís off putting to me me. Okay mouthfeel. Good brew of the style to get me a Black and Tan style entry. Not something I would bother to buy again.

Smells a little sour. Pours translucent ruby with a thin head. Taste is bitter without much depth.

"i guess itís gotta be classed somewhere...1/2 stout, 1.2 eye of the hawk "select" ale. nice mixture, almost but not quite as good as the stout alone. like a dark lager in flavor and body."

Sample at SF Beer Week Opening Gala 2014. Dark reddish/brown with a medium head. Aroma of light roasted malt, coffee and some fruit. Nothing special with this one.

Pours dark brown with a foamy white head. Nose is very aromatic; heavy dark grain notes, caramel, cola. Taste is right on the line between sweet malt and hoppy bitterness. Medium body; lively carbonation. Quite good brew! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Drink it often when in the sticks of NorCal. One of their more full flavored beers.

Really carmel and coffee aroma with a tan, almost brown head. Dark dark brown color. The taste is nuttty vanilla with creamy smooth after taste. This is quite delish-kiestro. I think it would go best with a chocolate based dessert. The best black eye Iíve ever gotten.

Poured two fingers of head on a black body. Looks nice. The aroma is chocolate, roasted malt and a little coffee. Pretty good except for a slight metallic note. The taste is watered down roasted malt with metallic undertones. Thereís a mild bitterness at the end. The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation. An easy drinker. The metallic notes took some points away, but not good overall.

A very smooth Black & Tan type beer. Very easy to drink with a great roasted after taste. The flavor isnít typical of blended beers but, it retains interest. Also, a nutty aroma thatís pleasing even to girls. Happy International Beer Day!
