Raytailgater (105), Rockledge, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 16, 2002 Good beer. Mendocino does a good job out there on the west coast. Keep it up guys.
Sparky27 (600), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Oct 9, 2008 Bottle. Pours an opaque black with one finger tan head and some splotchy lacing. Nose is roasted malt and burnt coffee. Taste is more roastiness, coffee, cocoa and a touch of bitter hops in the finish. Lighter mouth feel than I anticipated, which is unfortunate. Not great, but serviceable. mattwix (6), Arizona, USA does not count Oct 6, 2008 A very standard, delicious stout! Comparable to the Guinness Standard (Draught). ilovedarkbeer (766), Dallas, Texas, USA Oct 3, 2008 LIght brown head that is small sits atop a black body. Nose is booze, molasses, milk chocolate. Taste is metallic and weak with some roasted malt on the back end. Very weak and average taste that is not nearly as dry and roasty as I would like. Mouthfeel is crap. BMan1113VR (919), Los Angeles (and Dallas, TX), California, USA Oct 2, 2008 Interesting beer, thanks to ilovedarkbeer. Pours very dark brown, and a light brown head that fizzes away. Aroma of soy, brown sugar, licorice, chocolate, alcohol and smoke. Taste is sweet and fruits, metallic and watery with a roasty finish. Watery mouthfeel with light bubbles. gwpom (200), Akron, New York, USA Oct 1, 2008 12 oz bottle out of variety pack. I’m still on the fence about this brewery. The first beer I had from the pack I thought was very good, but the next two (including this stout) have been wildly average. The stout is nice and black, good stout aroma, tan head that quickly fades. But overall nothing that sets it apart. It’s not bad though, and that’s what really counts. I’m sure I’ll be able to struggle through the next two bottles.
