COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Eye of the Hawk is an excellent, strong, rich bodied ale that is "Bottle Conditioned" to perfection. "Eye" is coppery reddish-amber in color and its unique taste is the result of a judicious mix of caramel and pale malted barley, balanced with Cluster, Cascade and Saaz hops. This gives the Eye its luxurious flavor, substantial mouth-feel and that slightly dry finish.

Copper colored on our with small silky beige head. Aroma is hops and malt, nicely blended. Taste follows the same pattern with some fruit sweetness. Mouthfeel is heavy and slick, pleasant aftertaste. Vastly underrated, this one.

Bottle into snifter. Opaque dark amber in color. Nose is very pleasing and includes honey, floral, light citrus, caramel malt, and doughy aromas. Taste is very nice, with bready sweet malt flavor up front with a nice herb balance. It belies the high abv. Full bodied, thick feel, average carbonation, medium dry finish. To articulate it properly: Me likey ;)

Love Eye of the Hawk! The amber color is right in tune with the season. Tastes slightly sweet. Great finish also.

This is a strong full bodied amber ale that carries well its 8% ABV. The finish is bitter similar to an IPA. Thumbs up !

Wittales (660) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - NOV 8, 2013
Appearance was cloudy deep gold with creamy tight white diminishing 1/2 finger head, no lacing. Aromas are malt forward with caramel, toffee, Belgian sugars with hints of spice and herbal hops, no alcohol. Taste are malt driven with sweetness upfront, tobacco, leather, then herbal, spicey hops, mild alcohol. Palate was soft smooth creamy CO2 with medium-full body, lasting off balanced finish. Starts off well but lacks complexity and balance.

Decent, not great. Pours a clear orange with a light white head. Smells very fruity. Taste is very malty up front, with a bitter finish. A little bit malt liquor. Had in the bottle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle: light brown. Cloudy. Light white head. Lifted malt. Caramel. Toffee. Dominated by malt and little hops influence. Medium sweet palate. Low to medium bitterness. Not sour. Heavy but not roasted. Very confectionary profile. Weight but simple and lacks balance. Not fresh. Short and heavy. Cooked not roasted. Sour aromatic profile.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass. The label has no freshness date or abv%. Appearance: From the pour I got a tall creamy off white colored head. This covers a deep amber brew with good clarity. As I drank the tall head slowly faded out to just a light ring around the edge of the glass which left a little slick lacing. Smell: There is a rich malty character in the nose with a mix of bready and candy like notes. Hop notes are slight and way off in the background. Taste/Palate: The flavor matches the aroma with a sweet candy like, almost fruity malt base. Inside there is a well hidden abv and some mild floral/spicy German lager like hop notes. It finishes smooth and feels smooth (somewhat slick) on the palate with soft carbonation. Notes: This is a well made ale with a well hidden 8%abv that can sneak up on you.
