Eye of the Hawk is an excellent, strong, rich bodied ale that is "Bottle Conditioned" to perfection. "Eye" is coppery reddish-amber in color and its unique taste is the result of a judicious mix of caramel and pale malted barley, balanced with Cluster, Cascade and Saaz hops. This gives the Eye its luxurious flavor, substantial mouth-feel and that slightly dry finish.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass. The label has no freshness date or abv%. Appearance: From the pour I got a tall creamy off white colored head. This covers a deep amber brew with good clarity. As I drank the tall head slowly faded out to just a light ring around the edge of the glass which left a little slick lacing. Smell: There is a rich malty character in the nose with a mix of bready and candy like notes. Hop notes are slight and way off in the background. Taste/Palate: The flavor matches the aroma with a sweet candy like, almost fruity malt base. Inside there is a well hidden abv and some mild floral/spicy German lager like hop notes. It finishes smooth and feels smooth (somewhat slick) on the palate with soft carbonation. Notes: This is a well made ale with a well hidden 8%abv that can sneak up on you.

Bottle from Total Wine in Boca Raton, FL. Tulip at home. Pours a hazy deep amber-brown. One finger white head and some lacing. Aroma is sweet and kind of smells like a clean bathroom. I don’t mean that to be a negative but it smells like one of those urinal cakes. Light sweet malts and some citrus. Taste is more simplistic than I thought. Light bubblegum, sweet malts, some bitter hops and yeasty. Medium carbonation, bitter finish. Light to medium bodied. Nothing too special.

Deep, dark amber with a virtually non existant head. Aroma is faintly sweet and virtually non existant as well. Taste is sweet, heavy alcohol, with a moderate, metallic bitter finish. Kind of heavy mouthfeel, and the alcohol hits quickly...you could easily hurt yourself with this.
