Commercial Description:
Eye of the Hawk is an excellent, strong, rich bodied ale that is "Bottle Conditioned" to perfection. "Eye" is coppery reddish-amber in color and its unique taste is the result of a judicious mix of caramel and pale malted barley, balanced with Cluster, Cascade and Saaz hops. This gives the Eye its luxurious flavor, substantial mouth-feel and that slightly dry finish.

From bottle... poured dark gold with small head. Malty aroma. Sweet and malty taste with a sticky, bitter finish. Pretty enjoyable, but not my favorite from Mendocino (had this as part of a $28 variety case... probably the most consistently good 4 beers I’ve had from any one variety case). I’d get that case again regardless of whether or not this beer is included.

12oz via trade a ways back. Pours deep orange with a puffy tan head. Nose is lightly sweet. Taste is sweet and a big old eh, kinda ok.

Bottle.Pours amber with a small white head. Light hop aroma with citrus, fruit, floral and notes of caramel. Flavor is moderatly sweet with toasted caramel malts, grain, toffee, and light alcohol with a hint of bitterness in the finish.

Bottle. Pours a light hazy golf with a one finger creamy white head and ok lacing. Nose is light citrus hops and sweet malt. Taste is malt, honey and a very light hop finish with a touch of alcohol burn on the backend. Medium mouth feel. Pretty boring.

Didn’t really like the aftertaste. A tad too sweet. Not very strong for an IPA.
