3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a rich deep umber black color with a big four finger deep mocha brown foam that sticks nicely... Aromas are chewy dark chocolate, boozy roasted malts and a touch of caramel sweetness. On the palate its well balanced between deep roasty earth notes and sweet caramel and chocolate notes... Nice carbonation and a silky rich body make this stout a winner with no detectable booze in the finish. Nice.

Bottle: dense black beer with medium to light head and moderate lace. Dark, roasted malty nose. Mocha. Very dark chocolate or cocoa powder. Hint of hops. The nose is almost every brooding. Dry palate. Very dense and high bitterness. A lot of weight but not balanced. Lacks the creaminess to match the bitterness.

"slight hoppiness atop a medium bodied sweet impy stout. overall a nice beer for an ok price, but far from elite for an imperial stout, my favorite style."
