3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Just a touch of sweet aroma, with some hints of yeast floating through it. Pours a clear amber, with just a dusting of off-white head. Bready flavor, with a touch of tartness, and a bit of bitterness in the finish. Full mouthfeel. Not bad, but not something I’m going to hunt down again.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly hazy reddish copper color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness/toffee, pear, apple, herbal, grass, light pepper, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, brown sugar, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness/toffee, pear, apple, herbal, grass, light pepper, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness/toffee, light pepper, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, fairly creamy/bready, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this a very good English style amber ale. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours a medium, well retained, ivory head, with slight lacing, over a slightly hazy, dark amber (SRM 14) body......nose is toasted malts with biscuit, bread crust notes, light hops spice, no esters, balanced.......taste is lightly sweet, with toffee/caramel notes, cereal malts, no esters, becoming bitter, which lingers, balance to the malts.....mouth feel light of medium body, no alcohol, light carbonation. This is a moderately hoppy Amber Ale. Overall it is a bit light in both the malt and hop backbones. More caramel crystal malt and a more floral hop would help correct. BJCP 7/3/12/4/6

Your basic malt-and-hops-you-made-a-beer-in-your-garage-type beer. I’ll take it.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours amber with an off-white head. Aroma is a bit of oxidation, biscuit and cereal, a slight herbal hop component, and a mild fruity sweetness. Taste is mostly cereal and herbal hops with slight caramel and low-med bitterness. Medium body with sort of a strange viscousness to it, fizzy carb, dry finish. Bitterness is a little too long and astringent considering there is not much hop flavor.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Consumed straight from the bottle, which might be at least several months old. Its not bad - perhaps bottle conditioning helps give this a longer shelf life? Easy drinking, mildly malty, a touch of bitterness and hops. Not bad at all.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
12oz bottle. Pours amber with a white head. Caramel, biscuit. Very bland. Could use some hops/bitterness to balance it out and add some flavor.

Mild flavored slightly sweet and fruity ale with a soft malty base and not a whole lot else to cheer about. A decent brew but very forgettable.

"in a word, boring. one of the least impressive "amber" ales i’ve ever had. i can never quite understand why a breweries flagship beer would be this when there are way better beers in their arsenal, including the ever popular pale ale..."
