3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Dogbrick (4522) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 27, 2011
This brew pours a slightly cloudy orange-gold color with a medium off-white head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malt and fruit. Light body with a syrupy sweet character and notes of malt, caramel and ripe fruits. The finish is malty with a short grassy hops aftertaste. Decent Bock overall.

Bottle. Not sure if this is a Spring Seasonal anymore, since I just found it and it’s new to my shop, but whatever. Aroma of chocolate and toffee. Similar taste, has a nice roasted aspect to it. Very drinkable, def recommend it! 6% alcohol.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 ROGUE (1315) - Newark, Delaware, USA - SEP 20, 2011
12oz bottle. Pours an amber color with a finger thick off white head that fall quickly to a ring. Smell is a clean balance of caramel malts and fresh grassy hops. Taste of mild caramel followed by a bit of light warming alcohol and then faint grassy hops in the end that give a easy bitter finish. Creamy with low carbonation. Not very complex, but decent.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 JDBaker11058 (616) - Maryland, USA - SEP 16, 2011
Appearance: orangey brown, with one finger of off-white head and no lacing. Aroma: caramel, burnt sugar, dust, a little earthy hops. Taste: caramel, toffee, melting brown sugar, bit of metal, damp basement, and a hit of earthy, resinous pine. Finish: bitter, tangy, and slightly musty/metallic. Notes: Meh. Seemed more like a very water doppelbock than a heller.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BucannonXC5 (240) - San Diego, California, USA - AUG 23, 2011
UPDATED: OCT 21, 2011 Poured from a bottle into a pilsner glass. Probably a tad more than an inch of head. Color was a dark caramel. Some lacing on the top and some uneven film on the sides, which was scattered throughout the glass.
A big mix of hops and bitterness on the smell. Also some pine and citrus (grapefruit). Pretty flavorful smell.
First taste is almost a honey flavor. It is then followed by a touch of bitterness, ending with pine and citrus.
Moderate-to-high carbonation. The flavor that kept sticking around was bitterness and pine/citrus.
A pretty good beer overall. I’d definitely try it again. I’d be curious to how it tastes out of the draft.
