FROTHINGSLOSH (1807), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 25, 2009 Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a vivid orange-amber with a small orange-white head. The aroma was sweet, tangy, very malty and strongly vegetal. The flavor was strongly nutty, fruity and vegetal with a long finish. The mouthfeel was thick and rich. Well made, but not my style. jredmond (831), New Jersey, USA Jun 16, 2009 Bottle. Pours a hazy orange body. Aroma is bad apples and malt. The taste is bad apples, not a bad beer but not a great beer. wheelz843 (174), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Jun 9, 2009 bottle. pours a light copper color with a thick and quick dissolving head. has a nice hoppy aroma with a hint of fruit. taste is very heavy. has a bitter malty flavor with a nice warm caramel finish. crazyvin (1213), New York, USA Jun 3, 2009 From a chilled bottle. Poured a light copper color with a slightly off-white head. Aroma had a big caramel malt note mixed with som bread notes. Flavor was really sweet with caramel like notes. Hops were present but marginal. Finish was nice and smooth. Needed a little more body, it seemed a little light to me. Coldness probably affected the flavor. wxman (554), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA May 14, 2009 Pours a clear copper color with a decent yellowish-white head. Aroma is sweet roasted malt and caramel. Sweet malt flavor of maple syrup, caramel and spices. A very good effort, but far too hoppy for the style. Of course, what would I expect from a Hopland, CA brewery? Strykzone (1331), Wood River, Illinois, USA May 14, 2009 A clear amber color with a very small and short lived head that ends in an uneven layer. Aroma is fruit and sweet spice. Taste is quite bitter with a big hop profile that is somehow subtle. It is also fruity, floral, and spicy. radagast83 (1202), Fairfax, Virginia, USA May 12, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a copper color with a relatively small white head. Aroma is malts. Heavy malts, like "malted milkshake malts." Many probably wouldn’t find this appealing, but I loved it. An interesting change of pace from the heavily hopped beers I’ve been consuming as of late. RSRIZZO (1222), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Apr 28, 2009 (Thanks to Headbanger for this tasty little bottle) - Color is a deep golden brown with good carbonation and thin tight head. Aroma of caramel and malt. Taste is creamy and sweet. Starting with a medium body it goes down smooth with a creamy feel. Finish comes out sweet with caramel and fruit then a touch of floral hop flavor and an even bitterness. In the after taste the fruit stands out a bit more, as the bitterness fades you get a touch of alcohol. This is a great brew, the fruity esters give it an almost Belgian like feel.
