HomeBrewHawk (263), De Soto, Kansas, USA Jun 3, 2008 12oz. brown bottle served in a pilsner glass. Poured a gold/copper with a finger of off white head. Nice malty aroma with some caramel and a little noble hops. Medium bodied with a solid malt base. Slight hop bitterness to balance malt sweetness. A good American bock, malt is focused and not flabby. 7% ABV that you don’t usually see in an American bock. TheBeerGod (3143), Newport News, Virginia, USA Jun 1, 2008 Bottle. Amber pour with a small white head. Nose is sweet malts, caramel and buttered biscuit. Notes of out-of-the-oven bread as well. Taste is spicy hops, dark bread flavors, burnt biscuit, caramel and some citrus in the far background. Body is medium and chewy at times. Carbonation is strong but not intrusive. Finish is met with more biscuit and dark bready notes, more caramel, spicy hops, subtle fruit and sweet malts. Hangover (764), Atlanta, USA May 30, 2008 Rediish/brown pour with a thin white head. Mildly sweet aroma with some bread, bisquit and a bit of caramel. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. It’s almost too sweet initially, but the middle reveals some dark fruits and some spicy hops. Kind of a musty back end with more bisquit and raisiny malts. Finish has a bit of alcohol to it, but not bad. Overall it’s pretty good. GG (1613), NorCal, California, USA May 29, 2008 After having a bad run in with some serious DMS a few weeks ago, now if there’s even a low level of the stuff it seems like it’s packed full of it. This was the case here with this beer, although the levels were a bit more manageable. A vegetative nose with some caramel sweetness as the DMS dissipates. The beer is amber in color with a nice creamy one-finger thick head. Flavors had a strange earthy/grassy character that really didn’t sit well with what I like. Not something I’d likely revist. Oakes (8058), gone rambling, Vietnam May 27, 2008 Golden-amber colour. Big caramel and fresh bread nose with just a hint of toastiness and alcohol. Full and firm, with ample toasty components. Starts well, but fades in the finish...it dries out, bringing some graininess to the fore, with lots of drying alcohol at the end. Tmoney99 (4660), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA May 27, 2008 Bottle from Jungle Jim’s. Poured a hazy brown color with a large frothy off-white head that mostly lasted and produced good lacing. Average malty citrus aroma. Medium body with soft carbonation. Medium sweet malt flavor with a medium fruity sweet finish of average duration. TheDean (785), MIlwaukee, Wisconsin, USA May 25, 2008 in heaven there is no beer. That’s why we drink it here. And when we are gone from here, our friends will be drinking all the beer.
This is beer. It’s hoppy and good. Mmmmm...beeer. daknole (2810), Plantation, Florida, USA May 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours a light amber color with a fizzy white head that stuck around for a decent amount of time. Aroma is malty, caramel, and maybe some dried fruit. Flavor is malty and even sweet. Hops are present, but only slightly. Refreshing as I drank this on a hot S Fla day.
