| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 23, 2009 Pours hazy copper with a fluffy white head and medium lacing. Aroma is sweet caramel, toffee, and a mild vanilla note. Flavor reflects the aroma well, initial sweet caramel notes give way to a bready warm middle, excellent balance of character, a bit of an alcohol astringency, more crusty bread towards the end, and a lingering bitter finish. This beer is highly underrated IMO. drowland (1395), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 14, 2009 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Big sweet and malty taste and you can taste the grain in a way. Better than I remember from last year. merlin48 (511), New Tazewell, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 23, 2009 Hazy orange amber body with a small offwhite head. Aroma of toasted caramel, buttered toffee, and fruity red apple esters. Taste has more of an earthy, pine, and grassy hoppiness as the toasted maltiness takes a back seat. Aroma was the highlight of this one. milewide (609), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 12, 2009 Pours light copper, almost dark golden. Clear. Brief white head, but sits quite still after the head disappears. Nose of caramel malts, sugar, some bitter hops, and some rotten apple. Similar taste but metallic bitterness added. I’ve still yet to have a Mendocino beer that I really like. FROTHINGSLOSH (1986), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 25, 2009 Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a vivid orange-amber with a small orange-white head. The aroma was sweet, tangy, very malty and strongly vegetal. The flavor was strongly nutty, fruity and vegetal with a long finish. The mouthfeel was thick and rich. Well made, but not my style. jredmond (1029), New Jersey, USA
