juiceisloose (528), Windermere, Florida, USA Jul 7, 2007 Poured a golden yellow color with small offwhite head that diminshed quickly. The aroma was of wheat, citrus fruits like lemon and orange peel, and a little bit of hops as well. The taste was the same with the lemon and orange flavor with a slight spicyness added to it as well. it had a good citrus flavor and was medium bodied that finished a little spicy. Not my favorite of this style, but not bad overall.
radagast83 (1202), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Jun 26, 2009 12 oz bottle as "Summer Seasonal White Ale." Pours a cloudy golden color, medium sized white head. Aroma contained spices, yeast, orange peel. Flavor was yeast, orange. A decent Belgian white ale for warm summer days. fidelis83 (558), Clinton, Iowa, USA Jun 23, 2009 Pours cloudy yellow with a slight gold tint, has a 3-4 finger fluffy white head that has good retention and leaves decent lacing.. Aroma is orange peel, spice, yeasty bread, a little wheat, and a general fruity tone. Flavor is coriander, cloves, anise, licorice, sweet wheat bread, yeasty pizza crust dough, some orange peel, a little lemon and strawberry taffy. Finish is yeast, coriander, and peppery yeast. Palate is medium bodied, with a slightly chalky feel and is pretty sticky on the lips. A decent witbier all around, nothing special though. emacgee (1656), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Jun 11, 2009 Pours a cloudy light yellow with a one to two finger creamy eggshell head. The aroma is mild and subdued, some spice, mild yeast character, orange peel. Flavor shows light orange peel, mild sweetness, spice, anise, yeasty. Crisp palate with a spicy finish. Tasty. beerbill (1742), Laurel, New York, USA Apr 7, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow gold with a moderate white head that lasts almost until the end and leaves partial lace. Nice bright aroma of lemon along with a bit of spice. The flavor, unfortunately, falls flat on its face. Grainy up front followed by some stale, almost mildewy, lemon. Mouthfeel is waxy and feels like it is leaving a residue. Started out promising, but a disappointing beer. heemer77 (4187), Savannah, Missouri, USA Mar 14, 2009 Bottle called Mendocino Summer Seasonal White Ale. The body was hazy straw yellow with a bright white head. Smells of cloves and old potatoes. There is a little bit of lemon zest. A very highly carbonated body with some orange peels and coriander. There was a little bit of woody character, but the citrus sweetness blew right past that wood. Decent for the style. GranvilleTim (289), Granville, Illinois, USA Mar 5, 2009 Yellow pour with white head. Aroma of citrus and spices. It’s o.k. but not one of my favorites. nickd717 (788), Palo Alto, California, USA Feb 4, 2009 A surprisingly solid BevMo grab. Underrated for the style. Pours a hazy golden yellow with white head. Yeasty, lemony aroma with some spices. Nothing too complex, but refreshing with good spices esp. coriander, light fruits, and yeast. Medium-bodied with a nice palate. Can’t complain about this one, especially in the summer. jgb9348 (2399), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Jan 20, 2009 Hazy golden coloured body with a very thin white head. Aroma of lemon, wheat, yeast and strong coriander seed. Light-bodied; Nice mild wheat/yeast flavour with plenty of citrus and curacao. Aftertaste is very mellow-amazingly fresh. Overall, a good summer wheat - odd for me to say - especially from Mendocino, but its a good beer! Definitely one to try this summer! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 02-June-2005 at Jon(R888710)’s.
