White Hawk is a traditional IPA .The IPA recipe is based on the original 1880 brew that was sent to India for the British troops. The advent of India Pale Ale was born of a need to supply beer in the 1800’s to British troops in India. This hearty, heavily hopped ale was brewed to endure the rigors of the long voyage from Great Britain.

White Hawk Original IPA was launched in California in early 2002 to meet the demand for a unique India Pale Ale. Consumer response for White Hawk IPA exceeded expectations and it is fast gaining a loyal following both in 6 pack and on draft.

Botte, 12oz. It pours a lighlty hazy body, dark golden in color and with a dense, finger-thick light beige head leaving lacings. It’s citrusy and lightly hayish on the nose, with some resiny hints. Rather malty. That goes for the flavor too, where there’s also a nice bitterness. Full body, pleasant carbonation and quite dry. Lasting bitter finish. Sort of boring this one, but quite nice anyway. 131231

Poured to duvel goblet A: eggy single finger whipped head sticks around. Golden ale with excellent clarity. Consistent runs replenish the head. Nice lacing sticks to the edges. S: sweet nougat, resiny, piney. Not really what you expect from a CA IPA, a bit weak. T: sweet and bitter. Well balanced with piney hops. M: lovely and bubbly. Bit of a burn. Light. D: decent beer. Pretty average. Serving type: bottle 02-06-2011

Bottle: Amber gold, very hazy light cloud. Good solid white head. Malt driven IPA. Closer to English style than classic West Coast IPA. Slightly toasted roasty aromas. There is a stale, dank yeast lees aroma. Identical to Scrimshaw. The hops add a subtle note with just a hint of citrus. Off dry. Malt dominated and very bitter. Good weight and length. Solid, not great beer.
