White Hawk is a traditional IPA .The IPA recipe is based on the original 1880 brew that was sent to India for the British troops. The advent of India Pale Ale was born of a need to supply beer in the 1800’s to British troops in India. This hearty, heavily hopped ale was brewed to endure the rigors of the long voyage from Great Britain.

White Hawk Original IPA was launched in California in early 2002 to meet the demand for a unique India Pale Ale. Consumer response for White Hawk IPA exceeded expectations and it is fast gaining a loyal following both in 6 pack and on draft.

Wow, this beer’s appearance is truly something to marvel at; A crisp clear copper body and a mound of thick rocky cotton head, wonderful. The aroma is of grapefruits and tangerine. The flavor is packed with notes of pine and spruce, heavy on the lemon zest but rather astringent.
Mendocino is our newest West Coast brewer introduced to Florida, I have been fairly impressed with the quality of the beers, especially the high abv % of them all.
Overall a pretty enjoyable IPA!

Head is initially large, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy dark yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted bread), lightly yeasty (dough), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, resin). Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.

Clear golden coloured, ok head. More sweet than hoppy. Bitter finish. I'm really into IPA's these days, this however is not a very good example.

Pours orange/amber with a small yellowish head. Strong lace on the glass. A sweet citrus aroma, not real strong. The flavor starts sweet, nice malt with a moderate citrus bitterness. The hops are not overpowering as most IPAs but good flavor. A little weaker than most IPAs but not bad. This will not satisfy heavy hop heads but a good middle of the road beer.

UPDATED: DEC 4, 2008 Amber-orange with a thin head, but nice lace. Quite a few floaties and small chunks swirling about. Nose was fruity and somewhat alcoholic. Light malt flavors, kind of smothered by thinnish alcohol notes. Hops were light, floral, somewhat citrusy and slightly bitter. Overall, not bad, but too vodka-ish, with questionable fusel notes. Some off vitamin-like flavors as well.

Pours a light, cloudy amber with a small head and a decent lace. Smells like a really floral IPA, but more floral than hoppy, if that makes sense. Flavor is rather subdued, IMO, for an IPA, but it's quite good. Very malty to complement the floral hops. Not very bitter. There's some biscut in there. Mouthfeel is average with a hint of citrus aftertaste. Overall I really liked this, but if you're looking for a hop-fix, this isn't the IPA you seek.

Very light orange with some haziness. Smallish tan head. Smells floral and citrus. Taste is pretty malty for an IPA. Not really what I expected from this style. Hops are there but subdued (or maybe overpowered) by the malt. Mouthfeel a little too thin.

Lightly hazed light orange body with medium creamy beige head. Aroma is medium sweet, floral, light citric, . Taste is more pronounced citric (gfruit), medium sweet, but also some biscuit. Finish is floral/grapefruit, mildly bitter. Medium body. Pleasant IPA -- not a hop monster, sort of a cross between an American and English IPA.

Oh no an IPA! I just love IPA's! NOT!! This one poured a small sized ivory and creamy head that contained fine-medium sized bubbles. It had a cloudy and carbonated body with a pale yellow hue. The nose was hoppy, fruity and sweet with a bitter, sweet and hoppy flavor from start to finish that left an aftertaste. The mouthfeel was tingly and medium bodied.
