COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
White Hawk is a traditional IPA .The IPA recipe is based on the original 1880 brew that was sent to India for the British troops. The advent of India Pale Ale was born of a need to supply beer in the 1800’s to British troops in India. This hearty, heavily hopped ale was brewed to endure the rigors of the long voyage from Great Britain.

White Hawk Original IPA was launched in California in early 2002 to meet the demand for a unique India Pale Ale. Consumer response for White Hawk IPA exceeded expectations and it is fast gaining a loyal following both in 6 pack and on draft.

Bottle poured a hazy golden yellow with a white head. Aroma of sweet carmel with just a hint of citrus. Palate is a bit to crisp for an IPA. Flavor of sweet carmel with a bitter finish. Not at all impressive!

Bottle, bought @ YNWA Beershop, Kolding. Pours clear orange with a large, lovely, creamy white head. Aroma has peach, grapefruit, light pine. Medium to low carbonation, fine dry and light creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has quite crisp malts and good bitterness. The hop flavours are a tad subdued, but it’s a fine drink nonetheless.

Bottle. Pours sparkling dark yellow with an average, frothy, white head, somewhat diminishing with fair lacing. Aroma is average malt (cereal, grain, meal), heavy hops (flowers, grass, pine, spruce), average yeast (sweat) with notes of grape and apple. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness, heavy acidity and bitterness.

Poured with a medium yellow color with a very small head. Hoppy piney aroma. Not as bitter/hoppy as other IPAs I’ve tasted. Somewhat of a sour aftertaste. Tastes of lemon, pine and citris. I’ll pass on this one in the future.

One good thing about Mendocino is their bombers are significantly cheaper than other brands. One not-so-good thing I can say is you can tell why. This brew pours a light golden orange color with a medium thick eggshell white head that lasted pretty well. Thin lacing. The aroma is musty and mildly hopped, with a faint hint of citrus. Possibly the thinnest body on an IPA in recent memory, with a very one-dimensional flavor. Straight hops without a whole lot of taste, and a bit of grapefruit is about it. The finish is somewhat bitter but again not too flavorful. I was frankly bored with this about halfway through which is pretty rare for me when it comes to IPAs. Worth trying, but I won’t revisit this.
