Pours orangish/amber color with thin head. Semi floral taste with pretty decent amount of hoppiness. Nice bitterness kick to it although maybe a little overdone. Overall its a pretty good Ipa but could be a little better balanced.

Just finished another of these good brews. Good citric hop aroma as soon as I opened the bottle. Pours an off-orange body with a hefty fizzed up white head. Good ’n’ bitter as a proper IPA should be. Strong citric rind aftertaste. Sour finish. Good stuff.

Yellow to golden orange on the pour. Starts crisp and hoppy, finishes exceptionally long. Fantastic beer. Would recommend with poultry. I’ll come back for this one again.

Pours a clear copper with a whispy head. Aroma starts with a nice caramel followed by a citrus hop. Nice citrus hop at the start, caramel flavors, some grassiness. Medium body, moderate hop bitterness. Not bad.

Thin Lingering head with a slightly cloudy gold color body. Hhoppy aroma and flavor, good amount of bite. The taste is what you would expect from an IPA.

This is how I really like an IPA to taste. Bitter initially, bold and tart throughout with a nice balance of bittering hops, with enough of a malt character to back it all up. Lingers substantially on the palate. Reminds me alot of Oregon Original IPA.

From a Bomber: Dullish golden yellow with a slight bronzed body, very tall and lengthy sitting frothy-laced & whipped white top of melted styrofoam. And that lace leaves immaculately thick webbed shelving.
Aroma is musty grasses and slight citrusy tones, dullish and slightly sweet as well with a light waft of pine underneath.
Taste is quite mild compared to most of those west coast(IPA) goodies, lightly bittering and buttery with slick grass tones, dulled citrus peels and sweet pine. Pale malts, a bit crispy and biscuity. Nothing abrupt really, seems to be more closely resembling the English style IPA or strong Bitter. Which ain’t that bad really. Flavors linger lightly with just a bit of hop oil left on the finish mixing with a toasted crisped grainyness and malt.
Feel is about medium, the middle and finish is a bit empty, but has a fairly decent start.
This would make for a good conversion IPA to get a would-be beer enthusiest more attuned to a the beast known as "The Hops" or alpha acids. The bittering bite in this is quite mild to my buds and has a nice clean taste. A nice session IPA perhaps(doesn’t seem 7%), could have more body and of course hop profile, but its still a pretty good little brew to perhaps work with before hitting the big boys. Sufficient enough effort here. Good in my book and will perhaps buy again if tempted.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 maltdog (592) - Colorado, USA - MAR 20, 2004
Pale amber brew, clear as glass. The pour cascaded into a towering creamy head with excellent lacing. Pungent hop nose smells of flowers, pineapple, and sauvignon blanc. Surprisingly sweet with flavors of fruit salad, grapefruit and nectarine, orange blossom honey, and cinnamon. Medium bodied with a resiny, sharp bitter pinesap finish. Hopheads, rejoice!- plenty of hop flavor with substantial, but not scalding, bitterness.

Pours a pale honey color w/ a medium sized semi creamy froth. The aroma is slightly earthy w/ some aged citrus rind. Medium nectar w/ mellow residual effers creating an almost creamy texture. A malty style w/ balanced hops. This is a good brew indeed. The hops are tame yet defined. Moderate caramel and leather. Not too citrusy. The finish is well bittered and perfect. I could drink this all day. Overall: this is an IPA that is balanced, and it’s a true 7%. A solid brew!

A pretty good IPA. It’s heavily hopped, but not too much so its unenjoyable. Not my favorite of the Mendocinos, but I enjoy this beer on draft down at the brewery when Im in the mood.
