White Hawk is a traditional IPA .The IPA recipe is based on the original 1880 brew that was sent to India for the British troops. The advent of India Pale Ale was born of a need to supply beer in the 1800’s to British troops in India. This hearty, heavily hopped ale was brewed to endure the rigors of the long voyage from Great Britain.

White Hawk Original IPA was launched in California in early 2002 to meet the demand for a unique India Pale Ale. Consumer response for White Hawk IPA exceeded expectations and it is fast gaining a loyal following both in 6 pack and on draft.

big frothy white head. aroma is very sour and reminds me of the solution that is used in beauty salons (i think to perform a permanent...stinky, regardless). sour flavor with hint of citrus. astringently long aftertaste...also, picked up cilantro in the nose.

has a light color with some citrus aroma. The taste is all hops and finishes with a nice bitterness.

A much lighter colored IPA. Not much of a head, it diminishes real quick. Some sweet taste to it along with the hops. Not too bad. But not their best brew.

Citrusy hop aroma, some grapefruit and pineapple, with very light touches of sweetness and earth. Light-medium golden color, with a finely-bubbled head and delicate lacing. Largely astringent, bitter flavor, lots of citrus but missing out on the backing maltiness almost completely. Relatively thin mouthfeel and watery, unassertive palate. Finishes weak, as well. Not recommended.

Amber gold body topped by a thick foamy head with decent lace. Slightly sweet hoppy aroma with fruity, citrusy notes. Hoppy flavor with slightly sweet fruity, citrus notes. Medium bodied and smooth.

Bottle: Weird nose. Skunky lager & grapefruit. Boring yellow color. I get that lager taste with a bitter finish. Not that impressive. Won't seek this out. As always nice bird label.

Pours out crystal clear, gold with a small head. Very light aroma of malt + hops. Fairly light-bodied, slightly bitter, floal, lightly malty, finishing mildy bitter. Not much more hoppy than the pale ale. This would make a better pale ale, though not big enough for an IPA.

Medium orange. Chalky and foamy aroma. Weird sweet chardonay flavor. A bit sour. Overall this can simply be desribed as unenjoyable and rancid.

The beer pours out a very light golden colour with a frothy white head. The aroma is almost purely of hops, but not very strong. The taste of the beer is somewhat hoppy, but not balanced...there are no detectable malt characteristics, and the beer is therefore soemwhat 'watery'. The aftertaste is almost non-existant as well. Not a good represenation of the style, in my opinion.
