COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
White Hawk is a traditional IPA .The IPA recipe is based on the original 1880 brew that was sent to India for the British troops. The advent of India Pale Ale was born of a need to supply beer in the 1800’s to British troops in India. This hearty, heavily hopped ale was brewed to endure the rigors of the long voyage from Great Britain.

White Hawk Original IPA was launched in California in early 2002 to meet the demand for a unique India Pale Ale. Consumer response for White Hawk IPA exceeded expectations and it is fast gaining a loyal following both in 6 pack and on draft.

A foul west coast IPA. Thin in body no sign of any type of west coast hops. Just awful.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy orange color with a white head that settles to a thin film. Aroma is mostly piney hops. Medium body, taste a little more of malt than hops with a slightly dry, slick finish. Not great, but I’ve had worse.

Hazy orange pour with a sudsy white head. Big time citrus aroma. Comes off a tad underwhelming but is I could see this as an entry level IPA.

@ Party Town / Florence KY Nearly clear medium amber, 2" frothy head, lots of swirls of lace. Taste is sweet malt that adds moderate bitters in the finish. Not complex at all, but palatable. 7% seems a bit high for the taste.

355 ml bottle. Slightly unclear deep golden body with a medium sized off-white head. Nice aroma of citric fruit and caramel malt. Flavor is sweet, caramel malt, biscuit, citric fruit and decent bitterness. Medium body and bitter aftertaste. A well-made, straight forward old school American IPA with malt balance. Nothing special but nothing wrong either. A decent thirst quencher.

Type: 12-oz. bottle Glass: Lagunitas mason jar From: Trader Joe’s in La Mesa (San Diego), Calif. Price: $1.25 Purchased: Jan. 4, 2014 Consumed: Jan. 11, 2014 Misc.: N/A Poured a caramel orange semi-clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of khaki white head. Tons of layered foamy lacing along the sides of the glass. Good retention on the top all the way down. First smells reminded me of a stronger pilsner. Overall got corn, lemon wheat grass, spruce hops, lemon rind and some pine. By the end was thinking of a stronger regular Blue Moon. Also light floral notes. The taste was similar to the nose. Got lots of wheat, grass and corn, but also honey, sharp grapefruit rind and lots of bitterness. Not too solid. Light body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, bitter finish. Just an average IPA. Nothing exceptional at all.
