White Hawk is a traditional IPA .The IPA recipe is based on the original 1880 brew that was sent to India for the British troops. The advent of India Pale Ale was born of a need to supply beer in the 1800’s to British troops in India. This hearty, heavily hopped ale was brewed to endure the rigors of the long voyage from Great Britain.

White Hawk Original IPA was launched in California in early 2002 to meet the demand for a unique India Pale Ale. Consumer response for White Hawk IPA exceeded expectations and it is fast gaining a loyal following both in 6 pack and on draft.

The white hawk was on my wish list, so thank you Tom/After4ever for this one. It’s warm-golden with a huge, white and creamy head. The aroma is nicely hopped with notes of grass, resin and fruit. The flavour is slightly sweet and has a nice caramel foundation, notes of fruit, a lot of citrus, a bit of resin, a nice bitterness and it’s nicely balanced. It’s a tasty brew, that needs "the little extra" to become more than just that. 2022

Bottle @ home. Gusher though it doesn’t smell of an infection. Hazy, yellow orange appearance with a huge cream colored head. Sweet floral hoppy, honey, potpourri aroma. Somewhat bready, lightly toasty, a touch fruity, a little tangy, floral flavor. I really didn’t like this one.

Poured with a medium yellow color with a very small head. Hoppy piney aroma. Not as bitter/hoppy as other IPAs I’ve tasted. Somewhat of a sour aftertaste. Tastes of lemon, pine and citris. I’ll pass on this one in the future.

Pours clear deep golden with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, citrus, grape and orange. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter with a long caramel and fruity finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

One good thing about Mendocino is their bombers are significantly cheaper than other brands. One not-so-good thing I can say is you can tell why. This brew pours a light golden orange color with a medium thick eggshell white head that lasted pretty well. Thin lacing. The aroma is musty and mildly hopped, with a faint hint of citrus. Possibly the thinnest body on an IPA in recent memory, with a very one-dimensional flavor. Straight hops without a whole lot of taste, and a bit of grapefruit is about it. The finish is somewhat bitter but again not too flavorful. I was frankly bored with this about halfway through which is pretty rare for me when it comes to IPAs. Worth trying, but I won’t revisit this.

A foul west coast IPA. Thin in body no sign of any type of west coast hops. Just awful.

355mL thanks to Dedicatedtofun! Clear orange, nice white webby lacing. Nose is sweet artificial orange, flashes of odd chemical. Taste is harsh stomach acid, eating a penny. Oh gross. It takes skill to make beer taste this badly.

12 oz bottle. Golden orange colour. Thin head. Sweet aroma, caramel and medium crystal malt with some fruity/woody aromas. A bit of orange and light pepper. Flavour is quite woody. Light spice but mostly leafy UK (Fuggles) types of hops. Fairly well-balanced and pretty tasty. Slightly prickly mouthfeel. Lingering herbal/leafy hop flavour. Decent, but not great.

Clody orange in colour and mine had no head. Aroma is sweet honey with pine needles. Flavours are mild pine and smooth rather than overly bitter. Spicy and decent but I was disappointed.

Slight hazy golden color, white head. Malty and weak hoppy scent. Acidic, sweet, alcohol taste. Metallic aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, medium bitterness.
