3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Medium, slightly fluffy yellowish head over clear orange-amber beer. Very discreet nose, bit if candi sugar, liqueurish orangepeel; exotic fruit with mainly lytchee. Quite bitter, cookies with glazing that becomes sweet upon dissolving in the oral cavity. Bit metallic bitter, bitter gourd if not as aggressive. Warming up, a not very pleasant flavour, reminding of coffee milk gone bad. But my main issue with this beer lies in the mouthfeel, that, despite being well-carbonated, the beer is life- and listless, like a British kegged ale. Disappointing - certainly for a beer from Mendocino, that made one of my eyeopeners for USA beers. Thanks to whomever bestowed this upon me.

Medium orange. Chalky and foamy aroma. Weird sweet chardonay flavor. A bit sour. Overall this can simply be desribed as unenjoyable and rancid.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Clody orange in colour and mine had no head. Aroma is sweet honey with pine needles. Flavours are mild pine and smooth rather than overly bitter. Spicy and decent but I was disappointed.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours slightly cloudy dark straw with more rich, creamy, white head than a hotel room at the Republican convention. Aroma of hops, citrus, malt, spice, florals, and black pepper. Tastes very hoppy, with citrus at the finish. Palate is medium bodied. A nice, well above average, but not outstanding, IPA.

Bottle from Whole Foods Market in Charlottesville. Golden pour with a medium fizzy head. Citrus hop aroma. Taste is an up front hop bite with a nice malt background. Full bodied.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled. Poured clear medium golden with a well-retained cap of white head and sticky lacing. The aroma picked up sweet bready notes, honey, and caramel with pine and lemony hops present.. this smelled better cold. The flavor had an odd caramel and vegetal sweetness surrounded by grassy, herbal, and lemony bitterness.. left a rather ugly mess of alcohol and sharp bitterness on a tacky finish. Medium-bodied and sharper on the palate with the tacky finish.. decent overall.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
One good thing about Mendocino is their bombers are significantly cheaper than other brands. One not-so-good thing I can say is you can tell why. This brew pours a light golden orange color with a medium thick eggshell white head that lasted pretty well. Thin lacing. The aroma is musty and mildly hopped, with a faint hint of citrus. Possibly the thinnest body on an IPA in recent memory, with a very one-dimensional flavor. Straight hops without a whole lot of taste, and a bit of grapefruit is about it. The finish is somewhat bitter but again not too flavorful. I was frankly bored with this about halfway through which is pretty rare for me when it comes to IPAs. Worth trying, but I won’t revisit this.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle in Kaua’i. Brassy amber, low white foam. Slightly vegetal, metallic, cherry boiled sweet aroma. Feels cheap and/or old with a smear of peachy hop, rusty bottlecap, tonic water and hay character. Feels like a rusty, uneventful pasteurised English bitter that’s been stood too long on the shelf. Don’t rate these boys at all.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. A slightly hazy amber color, with a nice hop aroma - if somewhat subdued for an IPA. Big pure white head that disapates quickly. The flavor is pine tar and citrus with a little malt to back it up. There's a little grassiness to the flavor, but otherwise it's not bad. Finishes dry, easy to drink.
