Nov 28, 2008 12-ounce bottle from Total Wine. Pours a clear brownish/amber color and a small off-white head. Lacing is tight and pulled hard by gravity. The nose is subtle with hints of pine tree and citrus. Flavors are resinous with hops in the forefront and a malty caramel backbone. Notes of subtle cereal and a boozy aftertaste that mellows with each sip. Medium/high carbonation and medium/full body. A well-balanced IPA but fairly generic for the style.

Nov 28, 2008 Tasting at River’s Bend. Pours dark amber color with a nice off white head. Complex hop aromas, pine/resin and grapefruit dominated, with plenty of sweet malt as well. Flavor is similar, nice strong and sweet malt backbone to complement the hops nicely. The somewhat high alcohol content is well hidden. Enjoyable winter brew.

Nov 28, 2008 12 oz bottle. Clear topaz with a fluffy white head. Nose is dough, orange, caramel, pine and pepper. Medium body with a prickly tingle. Taste is caramel, honeydew, spruce and quinine. Finishes with grapefruit pith and peel. A bit raw and muddled.

Nov 27, 2008 7.99 for a six pack at Total Wine. Sweet citric hop aroma . Flavor was sweet pale malt with a bit of sticky caramel, finely blended with a blast of resinous hops. Grapefruit, pine and a long, nicely bitter finish. A very bold IIPA with rich flavors, yet nicely balanced and easy to enjoy. Lower abv than most IIPAs and is well concealed. Mendocino continues to impress, always producing a better brew than I expect and at a very reasonable price. Very tasty.

Nov 26, 2008 pours dark amber with a quickly dissipating white head. Aroma is big on hops, citrusy, and has a lot of sweet malt. Flavor is hop bomb and some good balancing malts. Considering how cheap a sixer was, this is great.

Nov 26, 2008 208 Bottle - pours a dark and translucent orange with a quickly dissipating off white head...aroma is a grapefruit and citrus bomb, pine resinous hops and brown sugary malt dominate...at first I was not impressed, but it was too cold..let it warm and you will have a great winter x2 IPA...not to be confused with your normal winter beer...

Nov 21, 2008 Bottle: Pours a ruby caramel color with a nice head. The nose is crispy and spicy with lots of hops, lots of grapefruit and crisp orange and lemon. The flavor is balanced with some more sweet sticky hop resin. A good balanced IIPA with a more caramelly note in the tail.

Nov 20, 2008 Pours a translucent copper gold and I coaxed a one finger creamy yellow head. The nose was spicy, hoppy, resinous fresh hops, citrus peel, pungent. The flavor had more bitterness than I would have liked, warm, spicy hops, resinous, very hoppy, citrus rind.
