COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
“Jet black in color and full·bodied with a rich, creamy, long-lasting head. Robust, with luscious chocolate and coffee flavors, it is balanced with just the right amount of UK Golding hops. Brewed with massive quantities of oats, our Oatmeal Stout is smooth in the extreme. It pairs well with a wide range of hearty, full-flavored foods and delicious desserts. Our Oatmeal Stout is 6.0% alcohol by volume and 100% marvelous!”

Very good stout. Drank in KS. Very chocalatey. Not as creamy as I would expect based off of the description hyping up the amount of oats used.

Pours dark dark brown with a nice tan head. Aromas of bittersweet chocolate, toffee, coffee, a bit of cola, slightly nutty and sweet. Taste is coffee, caramel brownies, hint of cola, earthy roast, low bitterness. Light-med body, relatively dry finish. Nice.

Bottle - Pours a clear, dark brown with a fairly big, creamy head. Roasted malt and chocolate aromas. Taste is a little thin. Average stout.

chinchill (2647) - South Carolina, USA - JAN 13, 2015
Undated 12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass (from notes). A- Pours a fully opaque black color with large, dark tan head. This quickly reduces to a thin layer, but this has excellent retention and a thick ring that leaves plenty of sticky lacing. S- Baked bread, oatmeal, and plenty of roasted malt with no burnt or even particularly dark roasted grains. T- A full, hearty malt flavor that’s richer and darker than the aroma indicates, and with more contribution from the oatmeal. Well balanced and very lightly smoky. Slightly bitter and a tad sour, with a fine and lasting, toasted grain aftertaste that has a light coffee edge. M- Medium carbonation; creamy smooth, slick/oily mouthfeel; Full body. O- OATMEAL stout - easily recommended for those who like more than a hint of oatmeal in their stouts.

Dark pour with a tan head. Silky smooth caramel mocha but not cloyingly sweet.

Tap: clear, black, with thick head and good lace. Very lifted mocha, coffee, cocoa and certainly creamy. Chocolate and dessert. Roasted and chocolate. Creamy but lacking mid palate. Dry, not sour, medium low bitterness. Nice appearance and aroma. Lacks texture and complexity.

Bottle. Nose roasty with chocolate, sweet with very light Golding and relatively more vanilla. Pours dark ruby but coal-black in the glass with a fizzy light brown head. Taste off-dry with pockets of red berry fruity sweetness poking through the soft and coating mocha and coffee creaminess, touch tart with light bitterness but there’s a good balance between all these elements. Light body but not watery, has a good level of maltiness for being so light (I’d have said in 4% abv territory), little bits of ash and yeast in the finish but neither overdone there, either. Love to see the restraint! The chocolate and roast might be a bit off-putting by the third bottle, but certainly not for those first two!

Lagerboy (1476) - British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 28, 2014
12 FL. OZ. bottle. Clear ruby hued deep dark brown, lasting mocha foam. Aroma is medium roast, chocolate and coffee. Restrained dark roast malt taste, oaty smooth, not too sweet chocolate, some coffee, slight British bitterness. Soft carbonation, medium bodied, lightly hopped. Easy drinking, nice. NFL (Not For Lagerboys)
