I donít know. Thereís something about this. Itís good. It isnít bland. It is heavy, but it isnít killing the gut. Itís got a clear, delicious taste. Itís beer, and if you havenít had a good one in awhile, then youíd do yourself a favor by trying one of these once. I canít say itís the best, because maybe I havenít had that yet, but this could be it.

12 oz. Opaque black with a lasting, quarter-inch creamy head and crunchy lacing everywhere. Nose is creamy espresso, charred wood and light berries. Medium-heavy body is velvety smooth, slight wateriness makes this one very drinkable against the big malt. Flavor is espresso with cream, smoky char, raisin and molasses. Most excellent.

Great beer. One of my favorite oatmeal stouts. Dark black color, full bodied. Hints of chocolate and coffee. Great beer for coffee lovers.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a huge thick tan head. Dark black body. Absolutely gorgeous. Appearance couldnít get any better! Great traditional aroma of roasted coffee and oatmeal. Flavors of black coffee and unsweetened chocolate. Only quibble is perhaps the body is a little on the thin side and could be more chewy. Probably one of my favorite Mendocino brews!

Very good. The aroma is a subtle blend of roast and coffee. The beer is opaque black with a thick tan head leaving lacing throughout. The taste is smooth malt and coffe with only the subtlest coffee presence. The body is thick creamy and smooth. Excellent.

Black with a thick brown head. Rich coffee and roasted malt aroma. Flavor is bitter with coffee and bitter dark chocolate. Velvety mouthfeel. Not a whole lot to say other than delicious.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
From a six pack at the Northcoast Coop costing $8.89 this 12-oz bottle poured inky black with a long last lasting creamy tan head and sticky lacing rings. Nose is toasted malts and coffee, with some fruit. Rich body and smooth mouthfeel. Flavor is chocolate, coffee, and ripe fruit and the finish is bitter. A very well crafted stout and a real buy for beer this good.
