3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at the brewery : virtually pitch black with a lingering white head - strong and fairly intense flavour of coffee and a hint of bitterness. Really quite similar to the Skullcrusher also available by Merchant House. Not an original flavour but a satisfying beer on the whole.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
A simplistic black with a white head. The aroma is weak but smells a bit burned. The malts were over roasted, i.e. burned. There was no depth or complexity and the aftertaste was a bit of charred.

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours dark with a nice head that stays for a while. Weak aroma. Taste of hops, bitter stout flavour and coffee. Doesn’t go down as smooth as some. Solid beer, nothing unpleasant about it at all.

Had @ the Merchant Ale House in St Catherines, Canada - drinking this beer on draft .. . pours a deep black brown .. mild cocoa head .. . deep earth, minerals, tar, and sweet medicene .. . something off in the nose .. . just a bit off/harsh in this beer. boo! .. . .
.. . .almost as bad as the Skylon Tower’s 3D movie...

Deep black pour with a thin off-white head. The aroma is quite roasty. A touch of light molasses and some dark fruit. A bit of light cocoa and a little bit of roast. Soft palate and decently balanced. A bit of dustiness as well. Some soft toast and cocoa as well.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aroma of espresso, roasted malts.
Black with beige coloured head. Medium head retention. Not much lace.
Tastes good, flavors of espresso, roasted malt. Not really much hops, but some bitterness is there to balance.
Full bodied. Carbonation is average, but would prefer a bit less.
One of the best stouts in the province, anyone with an appreciation for the style should try it.
