3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Lubiere (7003) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 20, 2007
A dark clear amber to brown cider. A pleasant aroma of apple skins, alcohol, and apple pulp. In mouth, a rather wild lactic cider, rather astringent, with light corkyness, and a strong warming alcohol in finish. This reminds me very much of the dry British ciders I had in London, UK in 2005. To be sipped and enjoyed. Merci a Todd, le Capflu!

(Draught) Sampled at the cidery. Mildly carbonated, golden body. More acidic and sour crabapple flavour than the others. Notes of aged oak casks and an earthiness that make this a very enjoyable cider. Very good.

Plastic bottle. Poured a hazy gold color with a small quickly dissolving head. Aroma of bitter apple jucie/cider with a touch of alcohol. Flavor of tart apples, semi-dry and warming. This hides the 11% very well. Tasty and very drinkale but nothing too special. Light and fizzy on the tongue.

Best flavour of any cider I’ve ever tasted. Have had a moldy bottle more than once though. Quite expensive.

Very rich, golden colour and fizzy carbonation. Apple and barnyard aroma, both earthy and musty. There are also notes of cinnamon and nutmeg in here. Flavour is very dry, spicy, and crisp, with some lactic acidity in the finish. Very good.

Pours a golden yellow. Faint sweet apple aroma. Light apple flavour, slightly sour, ends with a very dry finish. Thin body, decent carbonation. Pleasant smell and subtle body make this cider quite enjoyable, refreshing, and refined.

Lightly funky apple and tart earthy apple aroma with a touch of alcohol notable towards the end. Clear golden colour with light fizzy carbonation and that dissipates quickly. Extremely dry with a tart, puckering finish and some sweet apple pie spices. Alcohol is apparent towards the end of the flavour. Medium-light body and pleasantly sticky though very still in the mouth. Perhaps just a bit too boozy and dry. Bottle (plastic). Thanks, JoeMcPhee!

Bottle. Golden with a low initial foam layer. Wooden, spicy, (cardemom, muscat) fermenting apple nose. Fairly dry and lightbodied, peppery spiced notes dominate,
some berrylike notes appear, a bit alcohol burn. Almond and old apple aftertaste.

Pours a clear golden with a thin ring of white bubbles. Aroma has lots of tart and bitter apples. Body has some mild sweetness with lots of sour green apple flavor and a bitter warming finish. To me this is too dry and needs more sugars to hide the high alcohol.

UPDATED: JUL 7, 2004 Light golden color with a hint of copper. Spicy alcoholic apple farmy aroma. Dry acidic spicy apple flavour with some of that oxidized apple flavour but not in bad way. Bit watery.
