Draft @ brewpub. Pitch black and opaque with thin head. Aroma is nice cocoa, chocolate, but mild. Creamy and quaffable palate with very drinkable, enjoyable cocoa flavors. Simple but good.

Oakes (10202) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 17, 2011
Dark brown with a very thin head. The aroma is a bit chocolatey, with earthy malts. Generally chocolatey character, only slightly earthy. Sweet finish. Soft, smooth and a little bit like a schwarzbier.

on tap-pours a tan head and black with ruby red tint color. Aroma is coffee, dark malt. Taste is coffee, dark malt, roasty, oatmeal. Towards the finish of beer, less coffee, more chocolate. Mild/OK carbonation. Occasional

Braudog (4607) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - SEP 24, 2006
Draft 6 oz’er at the brewpub, 9/18/06: Rich and malty with a nice smoky character and a nicely welcomed almost sweet malty finish. Well done porter for the little Main Street Brewery.

On tap @ Main St. pored a hazybrownish black with a small lasting amber head. Aromas of roasted malt, carmel, cocoa and a hint of coffee. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of milk chocolate, roasted malt and a hint of cola with a crisp sweet finish.

Now why do people have to smoke in a fucking brew pub! I’m having a great tasting -- the brewer here served up samples correctly in wine glasses! -- and this smoker sits down and lights up. OK, now across the room with samples... roasty and bitter cocoa, soft, some paler malt sweetness, low effervescence, good thicker creamy feel.
