3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a deep, dark black with a thick, creamy, off-white head (nitro pushed, just like all other stouts here in Dublin). The aroma is a bit more than other stouts here - some roasted grains, some chocolate, and some earthy hops. The flavor is quite luxurious. The texture is velvety and complements the flavor quite well, which has notes of coffee and chocolate and less hop aroma and flavor than other dry Irish stouts. The finish is dry with an after-taste like a mocha - rich coffee with hints of chocolate.

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
In my view, the classic Irish porter. In many ways, it's Guinness+ in every category - just think of Guinness and double the tastes! It looks absolutely superb with it's collar of off-white foam and the aroma is teasingly subtle. The flavour is smooth and integrated with the obvious roasted barley but hints of liquorice, dark chocolate, toffee and treacle as well as a strong bitterness. A nutty, roasted and bitter finish demands more. Classic stuff and my drink of choice when in Dublin. (sampled on draught in Messrs Maguires, Dublin)

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Draught at the Messrs Maguire pub in Dublin. Dry, well roasted stout with lots of coffee and a touch of cocoa. Very dry and flavorful. Typical but well-made dry stout. Although I tried 5 times (usually in the afternoon) and it gets me very very sleepy. Strange...

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Dublin-07. Drinkable, but nothing fantastic. A typical dry stout with an overly watery body and lacking too much roast character.

@ messrs Maguire, in Dublin: Pitch black with nice long lasting cafe au lait head, notes of roasted malt, liquorice, coffee and dark chocolate. Sweet and bitter finish. soft mouthfeel

2.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Nitro keg @ Easter Beer Festival, Franciscan Well. Typical nitro keg dry stout really. Not as dry as it could have been, roasted flavours a bit too mild. Poor enough.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap. Almost black body. Creamy off white head. Sweet roasted aroma. Hints of tar and old smoke. Dry flavour, but also sweet, especially in the finish. The finish also reveals a tiny chocolate flavour. Like a Guinness with more aroma and flavour. (Messrs. Maguire Pub, Dublin, 05.05.08)

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: OCT 4, 2009 Nice thick, creamy look. Had a flavor that was fruiter than most stout but still rather bitter and roasted. Had a lingering finish. Also went off quickly.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Smoky and roasted aroma. Continues in the flavor along with a very subtle peat quality and a nice chocolate finish. Good mellow hop bitterness and medium body all the way through.

Dark brown with a creamy yellow head. Nice touch of sweetness to begin with followed by nice burnt finish. A nice stout.
