Dickinsonbeer (2513), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Jul 29, 2006 Pretty decent amber ale. Pours a moslty clear medium amber (lighter in color thatn the porterhouse red) and a light beige head which fades- leaves some lace though. Aroma is nutty, caramel, and herbal/floral hops. Sweet caramel and toffee in the flavor balanced by more floral hops. Nice balance and mouthfeel. Good irish red. Daniel_Brown (1919), Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, England Sep 29, 2005 Gravity at Birmingham Beer Fest. Nice red beer (there were a lot on this evening). Rusty indeed - metallic, slightly nutty, but mostly just flaky malt, with hints of oven roasted tart. Quite good really. garthicus (531), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 16, 2007 On tap - Messrs, Dublin. Red clay colour, firm, creamy off white head. Hops and malt in the aroma with a smooth malt-caramel flavour. A serious session beer. mansquito (608), Boston/Philadelphia, USA Aug 29, 2007 Tap at the bar. Off white creamy head. Brownish red color. Caramel aroma. Complex and smooth taste. Bready finish. Moderately present hops are there. Maltiness enough for all as well. Really well balanced beer in my opinion. My father’s favorite beer in Ireland. McHughsKBR (6), Ireland does not count Apr 22, 2008 On tap-Messrs, A small enough but creamy head, aromatic, flowery almost sweet hop, pleasant roast flavour, caramel and vanilla, slightly copperish, lacking body, but enjoyable
