Draught: Creamy head. Blackish ruby. Aromas of raisin, light funk, darker berries, wood, refreshing... Flavour is light tart, raisin, brown sugars, light wood, light toast, darker berries... Aftertaste is light tart with darker fruit, some wood and some sweet sour funk. Low carbo, light creamy but than watery mouthfeel and medium bodied. Tasty stuff!

UPDATED: JUN 30, 2015 Aroma of tart cherries, brown sugar, hint of vinegar, malt. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet and moderate sour. It’s a shame about the sugary sweetness.

Tap @ Posthoorn, Maastricht. Brown colour, white foam. Balsamic vinegar, berries, brown sugar. Nice taste but without sugar this would be very nice! Too sweet.

Remarkable blend of Gulpener Oud Bruin with a wood-aged beer undergoing a controlled lactic infection and sweetened. Made for De Zwarte Ruiter and in existence for many years already. The result is very much like a Flemish oud bruin, with yellowish foam and a dark burgundy colour. Aroma of nuts, chocolate, overripe fruits, Worcestershire sauce, sour cream, sherry; fruity and malty taste ’cleansed’ by a soft lactic acidity, some woodiness, dryish sourish finish. A classic, predating many attempts at oud bruin made by younger breweries.

Small sample from tap at Beertemple. Pours hazy brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is malty, caramel, slightly tart and a bit sweet. Taste has some sugar, caramel, is quite malty and sweet. Medium body and carbo. Decent.

Draught @ Beer Temple. Dark red - brown color, average sized off-white to beige head. Smell and taste lightly malts, quite sweet indeed, raisins, dried fruits. Average body and carbonation. Hmm it’s ok.

PotjeBier (2001) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - JUN 28, 2014
Tap @ Beer Temple - sample share with bierkoning, benzai, theJvd, andrejes & joes (Brett fest 2014). Long, long time since I last had this. Clear dark brown-red color. Dense off white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma’s: sweet & sour, light fruit (cherries?), dark sugar. Some wood retronasal. Flavor is moderate to full sweet & moderate sour. Light bodied, but certainly not thin. Finishes with a light bitterness. Lovely.
