(Bottle 33 cl) Pours a clear, deep golden with a tall, dense and fairly stable head. Discreet, malty aroma with a touch of metal. Medium-bodied with extremely and stickingly sweet malts. No bitterness. Sticky and out of balance. Tasted at The Axum Cafe in San Francisco. 210307

Bottle from an Ethiopian grocer in the Jerusalem market. Slightly amberish golden colour. The aroma is fairly heavy on the adjuncts. Light grainy taste. Thins out at the end. Otherwise, an ok macrobrew.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 bhensonb (8981) - Woodland, California, USA - JAN 16, 2011
Bottle from Big Star in Seattle. Pours brassy gold with a big foamy white head. Aroma is warm, sweet, corny. Flavor is sweet and lightly corny. It’s not bad compared to Bud, but it’s sweetish and a little bready. Wash down food - yes. Drink for enjoyment - eh!
2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 Travlr (7975) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - SEP 11, 2011

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 JoeMcPhee (7620) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 10, 2010
bottle with dinner one night in DC. Deep burnished gold colour with a thin white head. The nose is lightly oxidized with a touch of caramel and some fresh, bready pale malt. Fairly sweet with a kiss of honeyish malt sweetness. A little bit of light sweet almost tropical malt flavour. It’s okay but awfully sweet and has a lot of age on it.
2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 GT2 (5657) - Riverslime, California, USA - JUL 4, 2009
330 mL sweeet bottle into pint glass. Sampled at Dukem in DC. Pours a pale yellow with a small, temporary white head that dissipates quickly but leaves some good lacing at parts. Aroma is apple cider vinegar, apple juice, white sugar, and a huge wallop of clover honey. Taste is very sweet: tons of raw cane sugar, clover honey, and some metallic/grainy malts. Cloying sweetness overtakes everything eventually. Went great with the spicy Ethiopian food though.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 Beershine (5173) - The Sunshine State, Florida, USA - JUN 14, 2011
Bottle from Ethiopain store in the Makne Yehuda market in Jerusalem. Pours medium-pale gold with a fizzy head. Aroma is earthy, socky and metallic and has a little peppery hops. Refreshing palate and soft carbonation. Simple and easy. Finishes thankfully dry, with a good bit of bitterness in the finish. Better than expected.
1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 muzzlehatch (4425) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - MAY 23, 2007
330 ml bottle at some Ethiopian restaurant in Manhattan, early March 2007. This is a fairly typical third-world pale lager I guess, which is to say that it’s sweeter and less carbonated than many American macros; this actually seems to have more than a whiff of honey on the nose and as much on the tongue...it had an ok head when poured that lasted longer than one would expect, though the ultra-clear pale gold body didn’t promise much...no apparent hops, and the sweetness becomes cloying by the time the glass is finished, but I’ve certainly had worse.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 FROTHINGSLOSH (3963) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 16, 2012
They had this one at Tana Ethiopian restaurant in Pittsburgh. +++ Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark amber color with a huge fluffy orange-white head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was tangy and sweet table sugar, pear and apple. The flavor was tangy and almost boozy with notes of table sugar, pear, apple and a hint of bread. The finish was long and tangy with sugar and golden fruits. Moderately full bodied. Solid.
1.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20 DSG (3927) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - JAN 23, 2011
Bottle at a tasting. Thanks eyes_wide_shut. Clear golden with no real head. Aroma of cereals, sugar, alcohol, honey and carob notes. A rather sweet flavor of weird cereals and honey. Light-bodied. Strange and unpleasant.
