Bottle. [Another great tasting session @ Papsoe] Average off-white bubbly head that mostly lasted. Clear sparkling body with a light golden color. Fair display of lacework. Aroma of herbal, spice, grain, caramel, roses and dusty grain. Light to medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Light sweet flavor with a hint of acidic. Light sweet herbal finish. 5 / 3 / 5 / 3 / 10

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
650 ml bottle. Bright copper colour. Crystal clear. Tall coarse white head. Citrusy and sugary aroma. Rather artificial. Hints of fruity caramel. High carbonation level. Light bodied, with a light vienna malt flavour and a noticeable alcohol content as the malts are rather weak. Crisp upfront bitterness that is enhanced by the carbonation. Finish is thin and dominated by the dull hops.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Big 650ml bottle from the cave, £5:99, burned man! Aroma is pale lager malts, spice, but almost completly dominated by orange. Taste is again orange, thin marmalade sweetness, all spice, nutmeg, cinnamon, alround on the sweetside. It poured with a massive sparkling head which deminished in a few second then stood looking dead for the rest of the time.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle, 65cl. Nice, clear, deep golden body with a good carbonation and a medium-sized, dense, off-white head. The aroma is nice, citrusy and fruity. A bit on the artificial side though, but nice. There’s some malty notes as well. The flavor isn’t at the same level. It’s even more artificial, citrusy, malty-sweet and a little spicy. Medium to full, slightly sticky mouthfeel. It has a long finish with the same citrusy and fruity, artificial flavor, a good bitterness and some spicyness in the far back. Not sure how much I like it. I’m sure that I don’t like it as a Christmas beer though. It’s quaffable in a way, but too sweet and artificial. (071122)

Dark gold, a bit yeasty. Lots of Christmas spiciness. Cinnamon, almonds, over a fine body. A little citrus, too. Nice.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
650 ml green glass bottle, entirely covered in very "christmasy" plastic foil. Courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Also available in Norway at Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget. ABV is 5.8%. Clear and deep golden colour, large and lasting head. Fruity and spicy aroma with notes of farm kitchen, quite nice. The flavour has some of the "spritziness" of other bières-de-garde, but is sweeter, with caramel. Artificial "aroma" (whatever that may be) has been added, hmmm ... That is probably what I get some candy / pear drops notes from. Moderate hops in the finish. Not your typical Christmas beer, but drinkable.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
650ml bottle from Cask & Glass. Tonbridge. Orange/copper with lasting beige head. Strange fruit spice bready aroma. Doughy and tinnedfish. No seriously, it smells of tinned sardines. Better in mouth, still a bit of mackerel though. Some biscuity malt, but there is a meaty oily fish thing going on. Hey a beer with Omega 5 oils. That would be great and healthy too. Some spice on the end. This site has meant that I have had the opportunity to try a lot of beers, but this is seriously one of the oddest things I’ve put in my mouth. Rest of the beer is a pretty standard French biere de garde amber. But the oily fish, my god. Try it by all means, but please don’t try to drink a whole bottle.

0,75 l Bottle
Malty, light fruity aroma with spice notes. Nice creamy, big head, nutbrown color. Flavor is malty, with some roasted malt componentes, medium intensive orange flavor, some spice notes (cloves, punch?). Light dry finish. Quite nice christmas beer.
