2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle, 65cl. Nice, clear, deep golden body with a good carbonation and a medium-sized, dense, off-white head. The aroma is nice, citrusy and fruity. A bit on the artificial side though, but nice. Thereís some malty notes as well. The flavor isnít at the same level. Itís even more artificial, citrusy, malty-sweet and a little spicy. Medium to full, slightly sticky mouthfeel. It has a long finish with the same citrusy and fruity, artificial flavor, a good bitterness and some spicyness in the far back. Not sure how much I like it. Iím sure that I donít like it as a Christmas beer though. Itís quaffable in a way, but too sweet and artificial. (071122)

Dark gold, a bit yeasty. Lots of Christmas spiciness. Cinnamon, almonds, over a fine body. A little citrus, too. Nice.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
650 ml green glass bottle, entirely covered in very "christmasy" plastic foil. Courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Also available in Norway at Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget. ABV is 5.8%. Clear and deep golden colour, large and lasting head. Fruity and spicy aroma with notes of farm kitchen, quite nice. The flavour has some of the "spritziness" of other biŤres-de-garde, but is sweeter, with caramel. Artificial "aroma" (whatever that may be) has been added, hmmm ... That is probably what I get some candy / pear drops notes from. Moderate hops in the finish. Not your typical Christmas beer, but drinkable.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
650ml bottle from Cask & Glass. Tonbridge. Orange/copper with lasting beige head. Strange fruit spice bready aroma. Doughy and tinnedfish. No seriously, it smells of tinned sardines. Better in mouth, still a bit of mackerel though. Some biscuity malt, but there is a meaty oily fish thing going on. Hey a beer with Omega 5 oils. That would be great and healthy too. Some spice on the end. This site has meant that I have had the opportunity to try a lot of beers, but this is seriously one of the oddest things Iíve put in my mouth. Rest of the beer is a pretty standard French biere de garde amber. But the oily fish, my god. Try it by all means, but please donít try to drink a whole bottle.

Malty, light fruity aroma with spice notes. Nice creamy, big head, nutbrown color. Flavor is malty, with some roasted malt componentes, medium intensive orange flavor, some spice notes (cloves, punch?). Light dry finish. Quite nice christmas beer.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Very heady aroma has some spices and oranges. Brown with thin head. Dark malt flavour with some oranges, spices, lots of alcohol. There is an aftertaste that is almost like iodine. Low carbonation. Different isnít always a good thing. Entered from notes from Summer of 2002.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Brown in colour and quite still. Aromas beer with a single malt whisky stirred in. Flavours are syrupy malts and that quite French whisky something or other. Medicinal, earthy flavours are also present. Odd, but merely OK.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark brown beer with a fairly frothy head and a lightly hopped aroma with a malty edge. The flavour is weak to start off with but finishes with a strong alcoholic flavour with malty undertones. Overall a reasonable Christmas biere de garde.
