tarjei (1300), Bryne, Norway Sep 29, 2008 33 cl bottle, as «Meteor Bière d’Alsace», bought at Vaaland, Bryne. Abv is 4,6%. Clear golden color, fine but disappering white head. Aroma is weak citrus, malt and hops. Flavor is watery with some malty sweetness and hints of bitterness. Ole_R (1304), Oslo, Norway Sep 20, 2008 330 ml bottle. Foamy white head. Shiny pale golden color. Cereal aroma with a whiff of dusty hops. Light sweet grain flavor. Dry, mineralic. A hint of bittering hops. Thin, quite crisp. Not offensive, and certainly not exciting.
illidurit (436), Santa Cruz, California, USA Sep 10, 2008 Poured into a pilsener glass. Pale gold with a head that shoots to immense proportions, then shrinks back down to about 2 solid fingers. Leaves some excellent lacing, unheard of for a pale lager.
Aroma is corn sugar and grain with no hops.
Flavor is thin and metallic with a sweet cracker malt base and adjunct sweetness.
Paper thin and refreshing. Crisp and clean, but ultimately another boring pale lager. Gr0ve (1120), Oslo, Norway Sep 5, 2008 330 ml bottle. Golden colour. Crystal clear. Small off-white head. Nice initial floral hop aroma, but it disappears after a little while leaving a slightly metallic and cloying malt aroma. Has a light and watery body. High carbonation level, but with a nice crisp mouthfeel. Finishes with a oily and bitter mouthfeel. Some nice things about it, but also was few bad. If I had nothing else I’d probably drink it again. KnutAlbert (2350), Oslo, Norway Sep 3, 2008 Bottle from Centra, Oslo, among the most expensive beers in store.
Pale beer with big head. Rather thin and bland. A little lemon sourness, sweet grain. Not very balanced, not very nice at all - a wonder they bother to thip and import this stuff.
Alsace once had a good reputation for their beers.
