1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20 jaymobrown (1445) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 23, 2003
Tries to give an appearance of being a whiskey with the color and the design of the bottle. The screw off cap is a nice touch as well. Looks like tea with an alive foamy head. Mild bitter nose with a soda-like effervescence. Mild smoke flavors, but nothing really bold. I'm partial to heavily smoked beers and this falls flat. Some warming alcohol in the end. Some malt flavors. Awful mouthfeel. It's like needles in my mouth.

Poured a golden amber with a large white fluffy head that left nice lacing. Aroma of diactyl, whisky, and skunk. Sweet malty taste with some diactyl, and a good alcohol tinge to the mouth. Watery mouthfeel, forgettable.
2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 JPDIPSO (4957) - Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 6, 2003
AMber color wih a taller light tan head. Hint of malt and mint in the aroma. Heavy feel and sweet, near cloying, malt. Not much as far as smokiness. Not much more than a heavy amber ale. Aftertaste as it warms has soem barnyard flavors that are not real friendly.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Indra (2323) - Overland Park, Kansas, USA - JUL 27, 2003
Twist-off metal cap like a 40 of Mickey's, with label art that really made me do a triple take to make sure that it was indeed beer and not some form of liquor. Faint aroma, malty and a bit sweet, with some tea leaves, tobacco, caramel, herbal hop and a lil' hint of the shiskey. Medium-dark amber color, clear, with a fine, lasting, creamy head and delicate lacing. Flavor is also malty and sweetish, some light honey and caramel, a small amount of leafy, very faintly spicy hop flavors and vague hints of the earthy peat. Smooth, creamy consistency, medium-full bodied. No apparent smokiness or alcohol, although the strength is obviously not exaggerated because it's having an effect already. I bought this expecting it to actually be a biere de garde. Not all bad, just simple.
