COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle 330ml at the TGV towards Paris. Great sweet and "yeasty" beer. Aromas of hazelnut, caramel, and hints of butter. Taste is sweet, with bitter notes, and long length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Amber, with a thin head.

Pours a light amber colour with with little head. Aroma is sweet malt, yeast and caramel. Taste is also sweet malt, caramel with a slightly warming alcohol effect. Nice soft mouthfeel, little bitterness. OK but nothing to rave about.

This is also quite tasty. Some bubblyness, a bit of maltiness; also has some spiciness that the dremmwels had. Thanks ’rents for bringing these back from France!

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Tulip. Appearance: Clear golden-orange with thin white head and no lacing. Aroma: Very sweet and fruity, with banana, apricot, plum and some other odd fruit that I can’t identify. Taste: That odd fruit from the aroma dominates the taste. Banana, apricot and plum are noticeable as well, but overripe and too sickly sweet. Very light spicy and grassy hops at the end do not provide enough counterbalance. Palate: Moderate carbonation, syrupy body with too much residual sweetness. Overall: The sweetness, the syrupy body and the almost rotting fruit taste really makes this a very poor Belgian Blonde Ale.

Light head with no lacing. Taste has grass, malt, hay, citrus (grapefruit?), honey, bread, and what I can only guess is sweet cloves. A lot is going on here. The finish is light, sweet and absent hops.

On tap at a small bistro in Lyon, 18th Nov 2010. 25cl. Orange amber, clear, with a persistent white head. Looks like Leffe. Sweet, tastes pretty much like Leffe Blonde but a bit lighter. Syrupy. Not that bad but very forgettable.

The aroma is grassy, spicy, peppery. A bit like a premium lager as opposed to a biere de garde, but then I smell the peppery yaest strain reminiscent of the Bdg style. The appearance is a straw gold, clear, white head (also like apale lager). The flavor is malty, bread, pepper, spicy, sweet corn. The finish is a light hop bitterness, like noble hops, and a bit of pepper. Medium in body, lots of carbonation. Not bad at all.

5/05/2011 75cl bottle @ Klaas’ place - BB: 02/09/2011 (2011-191) Thanks to Mattie & Georges for the bottle!

Clear orange beer, small white creamy head, unstable and bit adhesive. Aroma: fruity, peaches, overripe fruits, citrus, bit of hops. MF: soft carbon, light to medium body. Taste: fruity, citrus, bit of hops, grapefruits, bit malty. Aftertaste: cit of hops, citrus, yellow fruits. So the French know how to brew after-all, who would have thought? ;-)

50cl draught at Le Tambour d’Arcole in Paris. Poured a golden amber with a small white head, and not much lacing. Aromas of candied sugar, caramel and bread. Body is full for the syle, but medium overall with lively carbonation. Taste is smooths, caramel, orange zest, and a little spice. Malt is balanced nicely on the back end. Overall not bad, went well with my meal.
