COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Always tempted to brew with veggies, we also threw some jalapenos in the smoker at Jake’s. The resulting Chipotle peppers were added to a bock-style beer. The smokey Chipotles add a little heat to the carmelized flavors of Munich malt and aqui estas! You have a delicious mash-up of Mexican and German, just like Conjunto or Tejano music. Break out the accordion, amigos!

On tap at Jake Melnicks. Pours dark amber with nice notes of grain malt. The malt contiues to drive with light smoked pepper flavor that build generously over time. You do get some hop mixed in but the spice and heat of the pepper really goes full tilt on the finish. You get some nice smoke near the end as well. another great option from this excellent brewery.

Draft on tap at Jake Melnick’s (Chicago, IL). Metro 2nd Anniv Party. Pours murky dark copper pour, some fiery brightness on the edges, a decent whitish head atop that laces small and dies to a film. Aromas are a touch of earthy pepper, light biscuity and toffee malts, and slight floral hops. Initial is a bit bland, bready and toasty malts make way into a lighter earthy chipotle heat, growing slowly. Light peppery spice grows, like a small wave on the palate, heat and earthy peppers. Lingering spice and chipotle. This heat really grows, spice and earthy peppers, smoked heat lingers on and on as heat and a touch of soap sit, malts fall behind. Yummy. Beautiful pour and lingering pepper for the pepper fiends. Tastes are there, aroma isn’t. Nice though. Pepper isn’t too overhwhelming and isn’t vegetal and coarse. The chipotle spice really grows on me and that is why I rated it as such.
