12oz pour on Cask @ fountainhead. The color is a nice copper with a bright bubbly white head. This beer had me real excited because i love a spicy stuff and especially chile ancho! The smell has some decent mild aromas a little chili in the background. I am super excited to be blown away by spice and (buzzer noise) fail. Barely any spice detected....at first. about half way down the pint i start to feel more heat and my throat has a slight tingle and I also notice a little smokiness. The profile did improve over the course of the beer. Overall a decent try by metopolitan and glad to have tried it.

Cask at Fountainhead. First off, this started with 5 ancho in it, but that wasn’t enough. They threw in about a dozen more and this is what came of it. Pours like dynamo, deep copper with a creamy offwhite head. Nose is lightly sweet, quite fruity, perhaps raisin? Not much in the way of ancho in here, which is a shame. On tasting, there is a mild heat to it, but nothing screams chiles in here. Sweet and bready, kiss of heat. A shame, really.
