4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 jstraw (1217) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 29, 2009
Draft at Jerry’s. Hazy, pale gold with good, creamy white head / Soft floral nose of grain / Light body, creamy, soft carbonation, with good balance and finish / Delicate, moderately complex, flavors of flowers, bread, grain, and a light touch of honey / I attended the opening of this brewery and learned that they intend to specialize in lagers. This is a nice start.

Originally reviewed: 2/2/11. 12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a slightly hazy deep gold. There’s a bit of white foam on top, but not much. What little ring there is leaves lots of sticky lace though. The nose is really dry with notes of husk, grain, lemon zest, and grass. There’s an odd veggie scent in there as well.
The mouth is crisp and clean. Very refreshing. Good amount of carbonation. The flavor is really clean as well. Good crisp hops that are light in bitterness, but full in flavor. A lemon sweetness comes through and finishes dry and earthy. Good refreshing pilsner here. I’d reach for this most any day.

G: Pilsner Urquell pilsener glass.
A: Strong head--had to pull back on the pour to make sure the glass didn’t overflow. Good rush of visible carbonation post-pour, and there are quite a few "moon bubbles" on the top of the foam and along the sides of the head. The beer itself is almost completely clear, and is a light gold. Good lacing.
S: Slightly grainy/grassy. Nothing special
T: Very good. A slight hoppiness comes on as it lingers. Ever-so-slightly sweet.
M: Smooth, yet crisp. Decent carbonation felt on the tip of the tongue, and very little alcohol as it goes down. Very refreshing.
D: Super-drinkable. Each sip leaves me wanting another. This one truly has "drinkability." If you’re going for one of the two brews from Metropolitan, I’d recommend this over the Dynamo, but try both if you get the chance.

I drank it out of the bottle at a bar so I can’t describe it.
The aroma is light notes of hops, like your typical lager but stronger and absent any skunk.
The tatse is very good which is surprising, I’m not a lager fan at all. It has strong and crisp and enjoyable with light taste of hops.
Mouthfeel is decent very drinkable.

I quite enjoyed this, sweeter than I expected. I thought it had a nice clean taste compared to so many lagers of its kind. Great, if you want a beer for warm summer days and don’t want to skimp on quality. Serving:Bottle
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Newk (204) - - FEB 1, 2012
Poured from bottle into a pilsner glass. Pours a clear straw color with a small head
nice and balanced aromas of grains, crackers, lemons and some straw aromas too.
lighter bodied with fresh flavors of grains, lemons and fresh picked citrus. Balanced but lacking a slight bit on the back and mid
A refreshing pilsner. A nice feel, but it’s just slightly lacking a bit of depth that would make this great. Still a quality pilsner that is really enjoyable to drink

Draft at the brewery. Poured into a clear plastic cup, it’s a nice golden yellow with a creamy white head. Nose is grain and sweet. Very clean. Taste is much of the same, almost fruity, though bready at the same time. As far as a pale-styled lager goes, this one is pretty top notch. I’d drink this a lot in the warm months. Very nice.

Bottle, pours slightly hazy yellow with white head. Nose is really quite nice, big grassy noble hops with straw and hay background. Flavors and body doesn’t live up, rather sweet honey comb malts with a healthy grassy hop profile that just doesn’t balance enough while the body seems syrupy rather than crisp. It still smells great and tastes pretty good too, just doesn’t execute perfectly but who cares this is still tasty and easily one of the better metro beers.

On tap at Jerry’s in Chicago. Had the trademark spiciness that I find present in most Metropolitan beers which I feel pushed this beer from ordinary to pretty good. Good clean finish. Medium-bronze clear pour.

Pours a light blonde with medium white head. Light alcohol aroma and flavor. Slightly grapey.
