COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An Alt-style beer. Our Alt-style beer is assertively hoppy with a restrained malt richness, as per the tradition born in Düsseldorf. Slightly dry, this beer pairs well with hearty, buttery German cuisine. We also suggest sipping it on its own; the complexity will keep you entertained and happy.

Editor’s Note: Ironworks is the new incarnation of I-Beam Alt. Ironworks includes a larger proportion of Dark Munich malt and Mt Hood hops rather than Santiam for aroma. I-beam was a spring seasonal available from March through June of 2010. Ironworks was released March 2011 and will be available year round. Abv is 5.8 (compared to I-Beam 5.3).

Notes just found on this. Rcvd in in - person trade with cousin in law from IL. I had three of these beers, two were poured into pint glasses. One was into a stange. There wasn’t enough noticeable differences between the two glasses. The appearance was a gentle hazy dark orange close to a pale brown color. There is a decent one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. There is a decent light lacing trickling down the sides of the glass. The smell had some good German malts coming through in a slight roasty to earthy rustic-ness. The taste was quite flavorful as it presents a nice earthy to rustic sweet maltiness to lead to a slight comeback of the German malts. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed good as there wasn’t anything to complain about. Overall, I say this was a pretty good altbier to have again.

12oz bottle. Pretty solid representation of the style. Not overboard and into the warped American ideas of what a Sticke Alt is, this is straight down the middle, classic. Medium bodied, Nice balance between the medium dark malts and pleasant hoppy bitterness. Light caramel, toasty dark bread, sweet malts. A really pleasant beer, capturing the essence better than most US examples.

Pours a clear, darker red with a thinner off white head. The aroma consists of caramel, herbal hops, biscuit, lighter spices, and mild lemony impressions. The is mostly malty, although there is a citrus flavor noticed throughout. Upfront, it is bready with some caramel and cereal. The citrus undertones consist of mostly lemon with some minor orange. The aftertaste is those citrus notes. The body is light to medium, while having a smooth texture, and being average in carbonation. This one is alright, but nothing here jumps out as particularly special.

Bottle poured a clear reddish amber with a lasting amber head. Aromas of carmel, fruittiness and light earthiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, earthiness and light fruittiness with a smooth lingering carmel finish.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a lightly cloudy medium orange with a half finger of bright white head. Aroma of herbal and earthy hops with some caramel, brown sugar and citrusy sweetness. Taste is medium sweet. Bready with caramel and sugar and a little herbal hops at the end. Light bodied with a sticky texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, not too bad.

Bottle from ck1, thanks bro! Pours an amber color with an off-white head leaving a lot of spotty lacing. Aroma has sweet caramel, fruit and tangy spices. Taste is of hoppy fruits, sweet caramel and spices. Light to medium bodied, which felt somewhat thin. Finishes sweetly fruity. Very likeable and drinkable, but not a lot to it.

Bottle. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy tan head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Moderate roasted caramel and earthy hop aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met.

The malt-forward aromas and frothy head of this top-fermented bitter give way to a balanced taste of biscuit and hops, and a lingering creamy finish.

12 oz bottle pours an amber/copper color with a decent off-white head and some spotty lacing. Aroma has toffee, caramel, and herbal, grassy hops. Flavor starts smooth with notes of caramel, notes of apple and pear join in the midpalate and has a clean dry finish. Body is medium . Easily drinkable, and fairly interesting.
